1-3 Short Paper: Evolution of Victim ServicesAssignment
It is important to understand the context of historical data and landmark cases before moving forward. Your first assignment is to find a case that you feel is critical to the evolutional changes of victim's services and/or process in the legal system.
UtilizeNexis Unithrough the Shapiro Library. Look for the Guided Search option. Select "Cases" under the "What are you interested in?" heading. Then search "Domestic Violence" under the ”Search in all Cases for" heading. Once your results are returned, you may narrow the records by adding “Partner Violence” to the “Search Within Results” option in the “Narrow By” menu. Review the following information to format this paper and make sure your paper addresses the following:
- Summarize the case.
- What is the case?
- Who is involved in the case?
- When did this case occur?
- Where did the crime happen and what court systems were involved?
- Summarize your thoughts.
- How do you feel this case impacted the criminal justice system and/or victim services processes?
- Has anything significant happened because of this case?
- Combine your reflections and the case information to produce a conclusion.
- What implications does your case have on the criminal justice system?
