First of all, a strategic management plan is an activity that engages every department and level of staff all through the organization. When all the stakeholders in an organization are carried along in the strategy formulation stage it makes it easier for the planning, evaluation, and implementation stages the ideas and objectives become very easy to actualize.

I work as a program manager for a nonprofit for adolescents living with autism and neurological disabilities. Part of the job descriptions of the direct support staff is to capture 30-minute data based on every individual served structured daily schedule. Before now this data was captured on paper. Two years ago management decided to introduce digital data capture for the entire institution. Presently I must say that the success rate of this strategy is at about 80%. This I must say is quite impressive for a five-year strategic plan.

For a successful implementation of a strategic management process especially for an assisted living facility; management should be responsible for setting performance expectations while providing feedback and coaching, and also recognizing those individuals that have done excellent work. Finally, management needs to create cultures where having ongoing discussions about key performance indicators, appraisals, and opportunities for improvements are happening.

The definition of Implementation is the process that turns strategies and plans into actions in order to accomplish strategic objectives and goals. Having a plan in place for positive change for any organization is a great thing. In my opinion a organization with a strategic plan should not be talking about to the team until everything is absolutely ready and managment is ready to answer all of the up coming questions. If a company is just holding the information and has all the details and is unwilling to talk about it and puts it on them at the very last minute. That changes things, I think that is unfair to the employs. I think that its important to be able to have a solid plan in place and then for everyone that is working under you to be ready for the changes and excited for the positive things that this potentially is bring to the organization.

For the situation that was given I dont agree with it. Only because they have the 5 year plan in place. That is not fair to employees as they are going to be having to go through last minute changes as they come up. Which in turn I think is going to cause a lot of problems with turn over! When you dont include the people working for you it tends to burn bridges. In order for it to be smooth and effective the departments should know about this and be ready for the changes. There are s many people that it just takes a minute to process things whenever there are changes. People dont realize how many issues it can cause to leave a team out. I truly believe that starts people to believe that the company doesn't care about the employees. Good vibes and a positive environment where the employees know of upcoming changes and how they have progressed is honestly the way to go. Building a team that works for you.
