The cloud solution for Pitt Fitness provides many benefits including, but not limited to savings on equipment, maintenance, and personnel. By moving the database to a service such as AWS from amazon the infrastructure is already in place and the build out is simplified through the companies administrative interfacing. Plug and play if you will. The cost savings from reduced equipment needs such as servers, circuits, and security equipment. Reduced IT employee time needed for install, of equipment, configuration and coding of the database build, monitoring, and maintenance. This set of benefits is enough to sale the cloud service over an inhouse database build.
AWS offers many free services for database cloud services up to a predetermined size and access time allowed. An example is the AWS RDS (Relational Database service) offers 12 months free with “750 hours per month of db.t2.micro database usage (applicable database engines), 20 GB of general purpose (SSD) database storage, 20 GB of storage for database backups and database snapshots.” (AWS, 2022). Determination of what the cost after the 12-months is achieved by an estimation calculator on the AWS site where all configuration of service needs is considered. While an accurate cost savings is difficult to determine outside of having all the details of the database needs RDS provides not only fully managed database functionality but is also available with a good selection of DB platforms “Amazon RDS is a managed relational database service for MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle BYOL, or SQL Server.” (AWS, 2022).
While this short post does not cover all benefits gained with cloud database services, nor does it cover the drawbacks such as reliance on service uptime with circuits and AWS connection, and some possible security concerns it does provide “Pitt Fitness” with the information needed to make an informed decision to further explore this solution for cloud over inhouse. Cloud computing is evolving and becoming as much a mainstay as the PC did in the early 1990’s.
In my second main post I will be covering the subject of data integrity and how it is incorporated into the DB model and design for Pitt Fitness.

I am incredibly excited to help the Pitt Fitness Company modernize its IT infrastructure to the cloud in this scenario. I will highlight three reasons: cost savings, scalability, and accessibility.
Transitioning to a Cloud database does not require as many personnel to run operations compared to traditional data centers. Additionally, moving to the cloud allows the company to only pay for its use. Furthermore, a cloud database reduces electricity and Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) operating costs required to run a data center. A Cloud database provides company scalability, meaning it can either upscale or downscale to meet its business needs. Lastly, having a Cloud database allows personnel, key employees, executives, and customers to access information regardless of their geographic location.

Create a data integrity constraint for the Pitt Fitness database that only allows a user to enter one of the three fitness locations into the Classes table
KINDLY ANSWER THE NUMBER (1) AND NUMBER (2) FOR ONLY 60 WORDS EACH FROM THE TUTOR VIEW POINT AND NOT USING REFERENCES, BUT THE NUMBER THREE KINDLY ANSWER IT IN 130 WORDS WITH REFERENCES!!!
