Project Report and Presentation 301175 Internet of Things Page 1 of 2 IoT_S2_20ProjList.doc Project Report and Presentation Prepare and present an investigative report on a topic relevant to the unit material, which is of interest to you. While some topics are suggested below, you are encouraged to choose any other suitable topic (in which case, you need to seek approval before starting your work). Within a topic, after giving a brief general overview, you probably need to narrow down to some specific issues (e.g., architecture, protocols, applications, etc.). Grading for this task is based on the report and presentation content, organization and completeness, clarity, and creativity. This work is to be carried out by teams consisting of maximum three students. The Report must be submitted electronically before 11:30 AM 23rd of September 2020 as both PDF and Word (or other word processing) files through the vUWS site of the unit. The hard copy of the final report must also be submitted before the start of your presentation (see below). As a guide, the final report should be around 4000 words. Please use font size 11 pt (or 12 pt) and single spacing (double-column, if students prefer) with the following format • Title • Project member/s (name/s and SID/s) • Abstract • Introduction • Body of the report (sections numbered sequentially with appropriate heading and subsections, if needed). • Conclusion • References (that are used in the report and clearly referred to in the material of the report itself). The team should also present the report in the assigned presentation time on 23rd of September 2020. The presentation times would be assigned, in the order of suggested topics below that have been taken up. All members of the team need to share the presentation and/or be prepared to answer questions arising from the presentation and their report. Your presentation time is about 20 minutes and it should quickly but intelligently reveal your topic, your understanding of the topic examined, your critics (and possible proposals), and conclusions. Suggestion: try to limit your presentation to 15 minutes (leaving some room for questions) and 10 or 12 slides! In order to facilitate selection of project topics, each team must provide the information asked for in the following tables as soon as possible, but no later than by the end of class on 29th of July (Week 4). You will then be informed of the topic assigned to you through vUWS. Following that, you need to prepare your progress report, which outlines your topic and how you intend to carry out the work. It should be in the form of short (less than one page) synopsis of your project or case study. Your team will have a brief meeting with the Unit Convenor on 19th of August (Week 7), to discuss the progress report that you hand in at the start of the meeting. Suggested Topics 1. 301175: INTERNET OF THINGS
TITLE: ETHICAL ISSUES RELEVANT TO THE IoT AND SMART ENVIRONMENTS
PROJECT MEMBER/S (NAME/S AND SID/S): _____________________
WORD COUNT: 4061
Abstract
The IoT that is the internet of things helps to make every day’s objects very much smart, by enabling transit data and even automating the tasks without the requirement of any sort of manual intervention. An Internet of Things is very much simple just; like a health-tracking wearable. The organisations that intend to adopt the model of the Internet of Things enable to initiate the progress of the organisation. It helps an organisation to keep the records and foster the functioning of the organisation very subtly.
However, with the advancement of the science and the technology, the ethical issues are also becoming very much significant now with the intention of making the IoT useful and not harmful for anyone. In this paper, the ethical issues that are associated with the use of IoT and the other smart environment apparatus adequately have been discussed in detail. Without
adequate ethics, it is not possible to make the system practical for the organisations as issues of hacking or stealing of information may happen. Hence, to enable this system to extract the data effectively, it is essential to make it sound and completely ethical.

1.1 Background of the Research
IoT is defining the networks of the environmental objectives that are embedded through the sensors, software and developed technologies. This IOT is used for connecting as well as exchanging data with the other devices and systems over the internet. Therefore, a smart environment is denoting the extension process of pervasive computing. Within the intelligent environment, sensors and computers are integrated with the everyday objects of the society people (Zanafi et al. 2018). It helps in the active connection with the networks. In case of the use of IoT and smart environment, there is the presence of ethical issues. Ethical issues of these services indicate the problems of discrimination and equality that are coming due to the use of IoT services. Background of this research paper is based on the presence of the ethical issues that are relevant to the IoT and smart environments. With the use of those services, there is the presence of malicious use, issues related to the privacy, responsibility and transparency issues.
