Introduction
Save the Children was set up with the mission that every child is special and has the ability to change the world. They believe in what they do. They have organised resources to create a safer world for children. They have decided to focus especially on those children who are lagging behind. They do not discriminate based on poverty or cultural background. They aim at delivering proper supplies of food and medicines to children all over and at the same time protecting their lives from all kinds of threats. They collaborate with governments to provide these basic needs.
1. Section 1
1.1 Situation Analysis
In the year 2017 more than five million children under the age of five years faced death. The children living in remote areas are hard to reach and if the sustainable targets are to be reached by the year 2030 then the focus should be concentrating upon the health as well as nutrition factors of children who are in the poorest of condition and in the most remote areas (Deressaand Ababa, 2019). During the 2019-21 period, they will impart priority to malnutrition and problems related with pneumonia. They have decided to continue to be leaders of humanitarian issues and public health. They will continue to deliver care to people during conflict situations, any kind of disaster or outbreaks. They will build powerful relations with other countries facing the same situations.
About hundred years before their founder understood that in order to achieve fulfilment of the rights of children campaigns supporting their rights is very important. Encouraging children to raise their voices against any injustice is also a very important role of this organisation. Communicative activities and campaigns will be carried out to provide inspiration to the general public so that the empowerment of children is at the heart of all operations (Mokomane et al. 2018).
They are also planning to expand relationships with audiences specialising in funding and decision making to nurture activeness in their mission and goals for children. They believe in the fact that unity will help them in making their promises to children a reality. They have the potential to build a better world and every activity they initiate is based upon this dream for children.
The world is full of unprecedented realities and threats that are beyond the combating power of children. At present, they can ensure that every child is protected and have a chance to survive in a better way.
1.2 External Environment Analysis
Charities and non-profit organisations help in improving the life of individuals. Save the Children depend on donations and funds and function like corporations (Nazir and Tonoy, 2019). They have their own budget and employees. Similar to other organisations, Save the Children are prone to external factors.
PESTLE Analysis
Political factors
Charities can feel the heat when any new Government is in authority. The Government can alter taxation laws and these laws decide whether charities can have an expectation about tax deductions. They can decide the reduction or retraction of federal funding which has a great role in the thriving of charities. If funding is diminished, Save the Children need to adjust their planning and budgets. Most charities are exempted from engagement in political activities because it always depends on the kind of organisation they are.
Economical factors
The economy has a great influence on Save the Children. About twelve years ago during the period of the great recession charities and non-profit organisations faced a hit. Common people became worried about the security of their jobs so they were not very likely to participate in donations. Most people had to think about survival first then about helping the needy. Without donation and funding charities, start to wither and their operations start failing (Nhamo et al. 2019). On the other hand, when the economy witnesses a steady rise, Save the Children had received benefit like other organisations. Budget also increases which makes room for more activities. Economic security automatically urges people to help others via donations and funds.
Social factors
Charities affect society largely. These organisations play an active part in giving employment to people as well as in helping others get employed. Save the Children are providers of goods and resources that help children have a better and a safe living. Save the Children are also using technology nowadays like for instance on someone’s birthday it is asked by Facebook nowadays if the person is willing to carry out any charitable activities or donate to a specific cause (van Bommel,2018). However, as businesses they are a boon to communities and help the children significantly regarding health, spirituality and education. Many children who are underprivileged would not be able to live a fulfilling life without the help and contribution of Save the Children.
Technological factors
Technology serves as an important vehicle for Save the Children but only a very small proportion of charitable organisations have come forward and adopted technological advancements in their organisations. Addition of new software always helps Save the Children to enhance their efficiency. Managing tasks, handling of documents and improving communication with team members are all internal tasks that can be handled by charitable organisations. Social media provides a platform to Save the Children to reach more number of children. Save the Children are also able to share new ideas and any news or event they want to publish by making successful use of social media platforms. Journalists also get a...
