43,800 lb per hour of 42° API kerosene will be used between 390 and 200° F to heat a 34 ° API mid-content crude from 100 to 170 °F. Inlet pressure will be 70 psia for each stream and the maximumpressure drop of 7 psi for kerosene and 10 psi for crude are permissible. Published fouling factors foroil refinery streams should be used for this application. Design (thermal and pressure drop only) ashell and tube heat exchanger following the Kern method for this service. If it is not possible to designas per the criteria given, then explain why not. Propose alternate possible design criteria with propercalculation.
