Manual handling occurs when transportation of an object, person
or material is undertaken by an individual. The activity may involve pushing, carrying, pulling or lowering objects. A number of risks are involved in manual handling and that is why, it is important to know the right way to perform it. Manual handling can result in injuries and in some cases even death.
Manual handling is one of the leading causes of injury and deaths in the workplace in Australia. Manual handling is not limited to physical labourers instead it can be performed by anyone at any time. It can also be undertaken in any place or work environment.
