Introduction
In the product market there is an intense competition between the companies, and that goes as well with Coca Cola, which receives intense competition from Pepsi. Therefore, in order to remain a market leader in the intense competition, it is necessary to introduce new products in the market to attract customers, following the concept of product life cycle. It is also important to adhere to the changing customer preference, such as a more focus towards the healthy offerings is important. In this report the discussion is done with respect to the though process and decision of the company in introduction of new product and how Coke had maintained their market share in the health conscious market.
Analysis:
In the year 1985, Coca Cola had withdrew their one of the most popular and flagship product from the market and replaced with a completely new coke in the US market and international market, with the name ‘New Coke”. Haule has discussed that during that period Coke received intense competition from Pepsi, where Pepsi had positioned itself as a discounter and sold their products half the price which Coke offer, and that too at a large bottle.
