(A) Ask the class to imagine they have been asked to do an oral interview of a speaker of English as a second language. Direct pairs or small groups to collaborate to design a set of specific questions to include in such an interview so that one could determine a listening and/or speaking ACTFL level (see pages 134–135) of a learner. After groups have compared formats, set up a role-played interview for one or two of the small groups to perform for the rest of the class, perhaps in a language other than English.
