1.0 Introduction
It is the duty of the healthcare professionals to provide quality services to the patients at right time. Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (2013) midwife can be
called professionals who provide healthcare services to pregnant women. They are trained and educated in which they can able to provide quality healthcare services to the people (Nursing 2016, p.2). With the support of the midwife, the physicians can provide adequate treatment to the patients at right time in an effective way. Midwife acting as an intermediary and helps the pregnant women for managing their healthcare issues. In this paper, we are analysing the professional misconduct of a former Victorian nurse and midwife in a detailed way. If the healthcare professionals failed to provide the best quality services to the patients, the authorities have to take legal action. Patients considered nurses as the helping hand and as a healer, if they are not performing their duties, we have to take strict actions against them. In this report, we also analyse the legal and professional issues related to the misconduct of a former Victorian nurse and midwife.
2.0 Body
As per the report of the International Council of Nursing (2013), the work of nurses is affected by internal and external issue. While analysing the case of the former Victorian nurse and midwife we can understand that she failed to fulfil the legal and professional obligations related to the assigned job. Now we can analyse the legal and professional issues related to the case in a detailed way.
2.1 Professional Issues
Outside of the aid of the physician, nurses are the most valuable healthcare members who address the physical, functional, social, and spiritual dimensions of care. The ability to address and provide the care necessary in a medical care environment requires a specific degree of knowledge, attitude, belief, and experience.
These abilities allow a nurse to not only hone their skills and techniques but also allow them to maintain a professional demeanour during treatment and evaluation of patients with life-limiting and/or life-threatening conditions (Small et al 2016,p.30). The key factor amongst all those that are seen as valuable is the level of knowledge a nurse has attained mainly through the education and understanding of the different issues faced by the patients. While analysing the case we can understand that a former Victorian nurse and midwife failed to complete his professional duties and responsibilities. Major issues identified related to the case of Victorian nurse and midwife;
Failed to provide proper care to the patients
While analysing the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia standards it is the duty of the nurses and midwives to provide proper care to the patients. The need and healthcare interest of the patients will vary from time to time and it is the duty of the midwives to provide reasonable care and support to the patient at right time by using the right resources (Capper et al 2021, p.10). It is the professional responsibility of the Midwives to promote the health and wellbeing of the patients. While analysing the case we can understand that midwives failed to provide proper care to two patients and they faced different healthcare issues.
