The Influence of Project Managers on Project Success Criteria and Project Success by Type of Project- Review
This blog reviews the productive journal based on the challenges faced by the projects. In due course, we also determine the role of project managers
in mitigating the threats while implementing all the critical factors for the success of the project. We also ascertain the role of decision making and portray the issues based on the issues and challenges that are relevant to the modern, post-pandemic era. We take IT projects into account and analyse the same, accordingly.
IT projects are difficult to manage, courtesy of the size-specific issues. While brainstorming isn’t the tricky part here, it is the plan execution that requires the majority of organizational efforts. Moreover, an IT project has several moving components that require constant monitoring (Hakamian, 2016).
Challenges thwarting IT Project Management
Current Issues
· Lack of adequate and productive communication
Team members have issues related to coexistence, especially when project management is concerned. Moreover, in case of sudden mergers, it becomes hard for a different set of individuals to collaborate, across comparable principles. Not just that, friction between stakeholders (Sutterfield, 2006)and team members is also an issue that requires attention. Lack of communication or unproductive interactions eat up working hours and minimize project efficiency.
· Undefined project goals
IT projects require respondents to determine and define goals, beforehand (Mousa, 2020). Every project has a defined hierarchy and undefined goals can interfere with task allocation and project management. In most cases, it becomes hard for project managers to prioritize tasks and create cohesive and clear workflows (Chayadi, 2020).
Futuristic Challenges
· Meeting Deadlines
Work from home is a concept that is on the rise, courtesy of the pandemic-induced threats. However, as a majority of the global workforce isn’t habituated to this format, productivity might suffer in the long run. Coordinated workplace associations are expected to yield better results, especially when project deadlines are concerned.
· Resource Deprivation
Companies are letting employees go and there might be a workforce and therefore, resource deprivation, in the next few months to come. Once the project managers start defining project goals, every area would require the necessary attention. However, the lack of resources will then dampen performances and even negatively impact the end product.
