Among the ANES respondents who are aged 17 to 34 and who say that the Bible is the word of God, we find that there might be a relationship between knowing someone gay and support for gay marriage: Among the 132 people who know someone gay, 53 favor legal marriage, 33 favor civil unions, and 46 say there should be no legal recognition. Among the 212 people who don’t know someone gay, 59 favor legal marriage, 66 favor civil unions, and 87 say there should be no legal recognition. Use this information to construct a crosstab and run a chi-square test to see if there is a statistically significant difference.
