Introduction
    US Supreme Court has undergone several transformative changes from the time of its foundation. At times, the decisions of the court are controversial enough to put doubts on the unbiased nature of law, adhering to the
concept of maintaining and preserving the social fraternity among people with the implementation of law effectively.
The Dred Scot vs. Stanford case of1857 is the landmark in the context when the question of slavery was legally addressed in the court and its aftermath resulted in the backlashes given to the practices of biased decisions in the court. In fact, the reports, editorials and the speeches of the leaders like Lincoln can be quoted as the critiques of the decision made by Justice Taney, stating clearly that Negros have no rights as the formal citizens of America and they must be kept as slaves, creatures made to work and have no right to certain privileges that a normal American would enjoy.
The Aftermath of Scot vs. Stanford in March 1857: Lincoln’s Response
    The first and foremost response to the decision of the Supreme Court in a formal address of Abraham Lincoln’s Speech at Springfield, Illinois on June 26, 1857 as he stood against the law of divide i.e. a legal practice that allowed to have slaves in a democratic society. Lincoln was a great scholar of law and social traditions and undoubtedly, he is revered as the leader of abolitionist group fighting firmly against slavery.
Therefore, in the light of the biased decision made by Taney, his opinion stands as valuable information which is a step by step analysis of the sectional divide with which, the decision entertains and pertains to extend the practice of slavery in the general social context.
    Lincoln views the powers of law as Supreme; they can have the rights to guide the society towards a better formation of a social sphere where the rights of equality are formally preached. He is of the view that these rights must be awarded to all legally regardless of their caste, creed or color in general and law can be the best force to implement such things.
The failure of the same can be seen in the form of Taney’s decision against Dred Scot because the judge himself seems to have slaveholding i.e. he favors the denial of full rights given to the slaves because he practices slavery and believes...
