In my opinion, the Un
ited States attorney general should be elected instead of being appointed by the president. As mentioned by Pereira et al., the president mostly chose political ally. The attorney general and other Unites States attorneys should be selected on a non-partisan basis. It can be seen that there is an imbalance between the operations of the United States government. There is a need to revise the strategies to deal with the shortcomings and the solution lies to change the way the attorney general is appointed. The responsibility of the attorney general is to make sure that the laws of the country are adequately enforced.
In the current scenario, the attorney's general honesty is torn between the laws he swears to uplift and the president. Eric Holder’s nomination for attorney general is on hold because he shows very little independence as deputy general when recommending pardons favored by Clinton. This all can come to transparency and fairness when making the attorney independent and accountable through a nationwide election. The Attorney general that will be elected will have the democratic right and can look over the president's power while making sure that laws are properly implemented.
When the member is being elected by a political party, he or she uses to pursue the interest of that political party instead of the public. The political party will have its way with legislation.
