The title of the article is “E-commerce trends during COVID-19 Pandemic” written by Anam Bhatti, Hamza Akram, Hafiz Muhammad Basit, Ahmed Usman Khan, Syeda Mahwish Raza Naqvi and Muhammad Bilal in the year 2020 published by International Journal of Future Generation Communication and Networking.
During Covid-19, the e-commerce industry responded to customer requirements and transformed the way the business can be done. The article by Bhatti et al. reflects how e-commerce segment boomed in this period and shaped customer behavior and buying patterns. The e-commerce stores leveraged the opportunity and used media to promote their existence and the products they can offer.
This was the marketing strategy, which was followed by e-commerce stores to reach their customers and to create a new base of online shoppers, who are restricted due to pandemic to go out and buy necessities. Earlier it was common in metropolitan cities but during lockdown, this culture grew in other cities as well.
The article reflects quite relevant facts about the growth of e-commerce industry. During pandemic public avoided brock and mortar shops and preferred to order via online mode. According to Gajewska et al., customers began to utilize the opportunity for ordering line and apart from e-commerce food industry also stepped in by delivering food at the doorstep. A new trend is introduced in the market giving customers and sellers a platform to reach other irrespective of the limitation of physical boundaries and mobility restrictions.
