Answer the following seven questions separately.

  1. In your own words, identify and discuss the main argument (also known as a thesis or line of reasoning) presented in this article (200 words +/- 10% = 2 marks).

  2. In your own words, identify and discuss the assumptions and limitations that readers of this article need to be aware of when they read it (250 words+/- 10% = 3 marks).

  3. In your own words, identify and discuss the main conclusions of this article (200 words+/- 10% = 4 marks).

  4. In your own words, identify and discuss the main ideas in this article relevant to the themes and/or concepts taught in MGT100 (250 words+/- 10% = 3 marks).

  5. In your own words, discuss an example of a real business, either a place you have worked at or a workplace you are aware of. What CSR approach does this business follow? Justify your response (450 words +/- 10% = 5 marks).

  6. Find two peer reviewed journal articles on organisational culture. These articles will be used in Assessment Item 3, which will be an essay. Present these articles using APA6th referencing style and briefly explain why you believe these are relevant articles (up to 150 words +/- 10% = 2 marks).

  7. Provide two sentences and appropriate citations. In the first sentence, provide one indirect (paraphrased) quote from one of the peer reviewed journal articles shown in Q6 (directly above). In the second sentence, provide one direct quote from the other peer reviewed journal article shown in 6 (directly above) (up to 100 words +/-10% @ 0.5 mark each = 1 mark).

Remember to include a reference list that starts on anewpage.

*Writing about an idea in your own words is mainly paraphrasing.Paraphrasing indicates you understand another author's idea so well that you can change the words (but not the meaning!) to suit your own writing style and topic.

Paraphrasing is also a legitimate way to borrow an idea so long as you cite and reference the source from which you borrowed it. (see
owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/owlprint/619/).

1. Key Thesis of the Article
The main argument of the article by Meier and Cassar (2018) state that the economic growth of the several global companies inclined them towards the corporal social responsibilities (CSR). In 2015, 92% of the companies release their CSR report in comparison to 2005, which is just about 62% (KPMG, 2017). Companies believed that CSR effort will help them to attract workers in large amount. It will give a good reputation to the company. Spending share towards the donation of charity, corporate foundation and employee volunteer program will help the company to build its repo among the employees. This, in turn, can be profitable for the company.
The workers will give higher output, a complete task with enthusiasm and their wage demand will be lowered. As supported by (Meier & Cassar, 2018), indulging in CSR to earn greater profit led to involving more and more companies towards the cause. However, this mindset of the company is not helpful in the long run. Working towards the social cause for its own benefit ruined the reputation of the company among the workers. The study suggests that less percentage of worker put their efforts into completing the task in the name of charity. A large number of workers put the effort in a task either they have the monetary incentive or it is made compulsion by the company (Meier & Cassar, 2018).

2. Limitations and Assumptions of this Article that Readers need to Know
This article is based on the research conducted on an ideal scenario where the corporate setup is virtual. It was assumed that prosocial incentives will increase productivity. The worker will work on the lower wages and task will be completed on time. According to Tai and Chuang (2014), companies relate the CSR with greater productivity and take this notion in a positive manner. It was assumed that extra work when tied up with the charity incentive will increase the productivity. It was suggested that workers who are conditioned with extra work for charity incentive will work harder and give more outcome in comparison with the worker freed from any sort of conditions levied with the incentive. The prosocial incentive was considered an important element to build up the positive image of the company in front of the workers (Meier & Cassar, 2018).
There are certain limitations while carrying out the research. First and the foremost is that workers are hired from the Amazon M-Turk and the selection of the workers is very random. However, as argued by Omotayo (2015), the effect of the intention of CSR on the actual worker is not tested. Charity is one among the many types of CSR. Thus, the effect of several other elements was not tested. The workers may react differently for other elements. The selection of the worker for different scenario was very random. Proper sorting is not done to test the subject for the experiment. This led to the negative effect of prosocial incentives on the companies. All these limitations have an impact on the outcome of the final results (Meier & Cassar, 2018).

3. Key Conclusions of this Article
The key conclusion we can carry out from the article is that companies should not use CSR for the benefits. This ideology can bring down the reputation of the company among the workers. Workers give a positive response to the genuine use of the prosocial incentives and they react negatively towards the companies who used it as a strategy for the profit (Tai & Chuang, 2014). Meier and Cassar (2018) suggested that the main goal of prosocial incentive to carry out profit always proven backfire on the companies. In the article, it was found that when the charitable incentive become conditioned, then it was completely backfired and a small number of workers did the extra work in comparison to the workers whose charitable incentive was not conditioned.
It was also seen that worker without any...
