Having strong research design skills is essential to be a successful research scientist. This includes developing research proposals that are well thought out and have a clear purpose. Additionally, it is crucial to evaluate data to determine if a study was conducted effectively and accurately. Solutions and strategies are other essential aspects of research design. To be successful, researchers must be able to develop solutions to problems they encounter during their work.
Furthermore, they must be able to develop strategies for collecting data and analyzing it. Ethical considerations are also crucial in research design. We must be aware of our work's moral implications and ensure that the research is conducted ethically. Finally, leadership knowledge is also essential for research(Paufleret al., 2022). One must be able to lead teams of people and manage projects effectively.
The competencies required for success in research design are assessed and valued in many ways. One way that research design skills are assessed is through the development of research proposals. Research institutions often highly value well-designed recommendations with a clear purpose. Additionally, data evaluation skills are continually assessed through data analysis from previous studies. Solutions and strategies are other essential aspects of research design that are often assessed(Minton et al., 2021). This is usually done through developing new solutions to problems arising during research. Ethical considerations are also constantly evaluated through the development of research proposals. One must show that their study will be conducted ethically to be successful. Finally, leadership knowledge is often assessed through the management of researchprojects. Research institutions often highly value scientists who can effectively lead teams and manage projects.
Many courses have helped me develop and refine the competencies required for success in research design. The most helpful courses have been my three In-Residences, research methods, applied research,and ethical considerations. These courses have all taught me many skills I need to succeed in research design. Additionally, they have helped me understand the ethical implications of my work and how to conduct research ethically(MacDonaldet al., 2022). One of the most extensive areas of gaps between my professional standards and my course of study is in the area of leadership knowledge. I have not had many opportunities to develop my leadership skills through my course of study. However, I have created these skills through my work experience. I have also developed my leadership skills through my involvement in extracurricular activities. I believe that these experiences have helped build my leadership skills.

Core Competencies
The competencies are assessed and valued in my organization in the use of evidence-based research that created a theory of change model, which my organization uses to implement therapeutic crisis intervention training for all staff at every level of the organization. The model has produced excellent outcomes for many programs dealing with troubled teens. The theory of change model is assessed by measuring the youth behavior in different areas at intake and again when they get released using the same assessments to compare. The course has been most influential in helping to develop and refine my competencies required for success by broadening my skills in evaluating program performance and assessing new ways to strengthen the areas that need help. The course has taught me how a nonprofit receives funding and the different ways to acquire funds. Today's nonprofit organizations have realized that the Internet is an effective and efficient means of fundraising. And quickly develop their plan around this technology" (Fritz). There are four common types of fundraising for nonprofits; event-based, mailing-based, grant writing, and business sponsors. Event-based fundraising is time-consuming. The organizer of an event-based fundraiser needs to consider the area and have enough support to make this event successful. However, I learned that social media for most nonprofits is event promotion, peer-to-peer fundraising support, and connecting with people to help them feel connected to the organization's mission (Barden,& Weinstein,2017). The gaps between my professional standards and my course of study focus more on the disparities within the human service field and why they exist when we professionals within the social service/human service profession have a code of conduct that states the importance of not harm. In coming to an understanding of the gaps within the human service field, there needs to be more study's done and research collected to answer the question.
