Assessment 1 Final Report You must research one of the topics provided and develop a report which describes and analyses a health topic from the topic list provided in this unit outline. You should read and research broadly, and a minimum of 15 academic sources must be used for the report. Due date: Week 5, Monday 23 August 2021 by 11:59 pm. Weighting: 30% Length and/or format: 1000 words Purpose: The report is designed to develop your planning and research skills. It should demonstrate your understanding of the topic and how it is related to the body’s major organ systems. The task assesses your understanding of the genre and conventions of research report writing, and the appropriate use of language and terminology in context. Learning outcomes assessed: LO1. Describe basic biological processes. LO3. Locate, organised and present appropriate information on health-related topics using correct academic conventions. LO4. Communicate information about health and the human body using clear, accurate language and terminology. How to submit: The final submission of the report will be through Turnitin (not hard copy). Submit the final report through Turnitin earlier than the final deadline in order to view an originality report. If the similarity percentage is not within the recommended range (0- 15%), any issues identified by Turnitin must be considered and reworked before a second submission is made. The report with originality report must be finalised by the due date and time, Monday 23 August 2021, otherwise the report will be considered late and will incur later submission penalties. Assessment criteria: Assessment criteria are in Appendix 1. Report Word Count For your report submission, the word count does not include: ▪ Cover sheet (do not submit a cover sheet with your report on Turnitin) ▪ Title page ▪ Table of contents ▪ Reference List ▪ Appendices ▪ Tables and graphs ▪ Figures and legends The word count DOES include the Abstract.

Definition and Aetiology
Cholera is marked as one of the acute diarrheal infection caused by bacterial infection. This bacterium is entitled as Vibrio cholerae. The intestines get mainly affected by the over hydration, dilution of food and lack of ability to process intakes of food that normal human body can afford. In other words, such as several stomach infection, cholera affects the proper functioning of the intestines.
The potential source of cholera is contaminated water; there are more than 2 million cases every year across globe registered for cholera spread. The disease is at times reckoned as contagious too though; it spreads through sharing of the same contaminated water source, which is used by inflicted. The other sources of spread are known related to various food choices that are unhealthy or unhygienic by nature. The nature of the Vibrio cholerae is said to be toxigenic.
Transmission of Cholera
In the context of noticing the transmission of Cholera, it can be stated here that it spreads through the contaminated water and food sources, as stated above. However, precisely seeing this disease as epidemic, it mainly spreads when cholera bacteria pre-exist in the water source consumed by a specific individual or the whole population. The studies also justify that the spread of cholera is likely possible through the contaminated faeces of the patient. This happens mainly because of the fact that there is no proper sewage treatment or the waste management in the area, where cholera has broken out.
Epidemiology and Pathogenesis
At microbiological level, the aetiology of Vibrio cholerae is perceived sensitively because of is resistance to salt and comma such as shape. Vibrio cholerae is Gram-negative rod like bacteria and it is highly tolerant to salt, which makes it even extreme fatal than the other bacteria causing intestine infection (Liu & Kan, 2021). Its forms can be viable but it appears to be non-culturable. Its identification is done through selective media and lab tests through microbiology. There are two serogroups, which have been identified so far for as responsible for the outbreak of epidemic (Lepuschitz et al., 2019). These are known as O1 and O139. If the clinical examination of the same is done upon the bases of the phenotypic and genotypic concepts, the sub divisions of these serogroups are possible. O1 is divided into two phenotypic categories known as Classical and E1 Tor (Irenge et al., 2020).
Further, there is specific mechanism followed by the...
