Assessment 1 requires students (working individually) to come up with a World Water Day project idea to pitch to Griffith University. The project should align with GriffithUniversity’ssustainability goals (see GriffithUniversity Sustainability),

(i.e., an event/project that raises awareness about waterand/oraimed at tackling the global water crisisand/oradvocates the sustainable management of water resources).


Griffith University will provide $10,000 to develop, market, and run the project.


Students will submit a‘Project Pitch’(maximum 1200 words) that:




  1. 1) thoroughly explains a World Water Day project idea that can be delivered


    within the$10,000 project budget,




  2. 2) explains how the project will meet GriffithUniversity’sneeds, as well as


    aligning withWorld Water Day’sobjectives,




  3. 3) identifies any other relevant key stakeholders and how their needs/interests will


    be served through the project/event.




Please include a short introduction and conclusion in your submission.


Assessment 1 is due 4pm, 26thAugust, 2021. Students will submit their Project Pitch online via SafeAssign on the 2209THS Learning@Griffith course site.

  • Submissions must be typed in 11pt Times New Roman font with 1.5 line spacing and 2.5cm margins. Headings should be in bold.




  • Any illustrations, diagrams or tables must be labelled (e.g. Figure 1, Table 1) and referred to‘in-text’so the reader understands them and their relevance.




  • All resources drawn on to compile your project pitch must be referenced in-text


    and in a reference list. Use APA formatting.

Introduction
Sufficient clean water is the basic need for life. However, statistics reportedly confirm that millions of people throughout the globe do not have an access to clean drinking water which is a basic necessity. It is not just the question of the availability of water but the availability of clean drinking water (Taylor et al., 2020). The paper focuses on developing a project that focuses to transform water system management within the university premises. An effective proposition for the development of a water conservation project is discussed in the following segments.
World Water Day Objectives
World Water Day is celebrated every year on 22nd March since 1993 which focuses on the importance of freshwater. It raised awareness of 2.2 billion people living without safe drinking water. The main objective of World Water Day is to provide effective sustainable development goals by 2020. The theme that World Water Day 2021 focused is "Valuing water".
Goals of Griffith University
Griffith University has always been committed to the environment and promotes sustainable development to be the core value of the university. Being a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact and Sustainable Development Solutions Network Australia Pacific, it has always focused its emphasis on sustainable development (Leon et al., 2018).
Project Pitch
Sustainable use of water can maintain a balance between the supply and demand of fresh water. One of the traditional methods that can be effectively improvised is the water harvesting method. This is one of the most sustainable methods which could be easily used that focuses on sustainable management of the water resources (Campisano, DAmico & Modica, 2017). This project focuses on the idea of a community water conservation project on the University Campus. The objective of this particular project is to provide an alternative solution for the water requirement in the university campus.
