This information is to be handed to each student to outline the assessment requirements.



Student Instructions


For this assessment you are required todemonstrate how to develop and maintain professional competency.


You are to seriously consider your professional future, and you should take this opportunity to make this project a practical and effective development tool for your future career efforts.


This assessment is to be undertaken infour parts, which should be undertaken consecutively.



TASK 1


1.You will need to nominate a specific career and professional position that you see as a practical career path for yourself. You must discuss that path with your Assessor and have it approved by your Assessor BEFORE you start


2.Research and summarise the relevantcompetency standards for that position


3.Conduct and document an honest and systematic self-analysis on your current skills, qualifications and experience relative to the competency standards for your chosen career.


4.Develop a questionnaire (6 to 10 questions as a guide)that can be used for obtaining feedback from relevant third parties, e.g. your employers, employees, clients, colleagues and your trainer, on how they see your career progression so far and how it relates to the career direction you have nominated. You may wish to include a brief descriptive of the competency standards, as the parties you target may not be familiar with them.


Note that this feedback will be vital to ensure you have a holistic view of your current standing, to assist in your self-assessment against the competency standards. This will help to formulate your professional development needs, priorities and plans.


5.Submit you questionnaire to your Assessor, with a list of parties you will seek feedback from (at least 3) BEFORE proceeding.




TASK 2


1.Make any necessary amendments to your questionnaire


2.Approach the parties and obtain their feedback(each party is to sign the questionnaire)




TASK 3


1.Using the outcomes of Tasks 1 and 2, determine the development needs, priorities and plans necessary to achieve the competency standards for your chosen career goal.


2.Identify, evaluate, select appropriate development opportunities personally suitable to assistyouto develop the desired competencies


3.Identify suitable networks where your participation may enhance personal knowledge, skills and work relationships


4.Identify potential new skills which may achieve and maintain a professional competitive edge






TASK 4


1.Combining all of the outcomes of Tasks 1, 2 and 3,develop a Personal Development Plan which includes career objectives, and addresses each of the requirements under Task 3


2.Prepare an Action Plan to facilitate the implementation of your Personal Development Plan

Following from assessment 1, you are now required to ensure that the personal work goals, plans and activities in your Professional Development Plan inreflect the organisation’s plans, and your own responsibilities and accountabilities.


1.Select a prospective and renowned employer whom you consider might offer the career path you have developed in Assessment 1.(If you are unable to choose an appropriate employer your Assessor will nominate one for you).


2.Research andoutline that organisation’s policies, plans and procedures as relevant to your career path(250 to 500 words as a guide).


3.Check whether yourpersonal work goals, plans and activities reflect the organisation’s plans, and what you would envisage would be your own responsibilities and accountabilities within that organisation.


4.Determine if there are any potentially competing demands between your personal and the organisation’s goals and objectives.


5.Prepare a summary report(600 words as a guide)suggesting how you might amend your Personal Development Plan or otherwise facilitate any competing demands

ASSESSMENT 3 – PROJECT


STUDENT INFORMATION


This information is to be handed to each student to outline the assessment requirements.


Student Instructions


For this assessment you are required todemonstrate your time management abilities using appropriate available technologies.


1.Select a short- term goal related to your own job, or to your studies. Check with your assessor BEFORE proceeding to ensure the chosen goal is satisfactory for the purposes of this assessment.


2.Briefly draft a plan to achieve the goal, illustrated as a step by step process. If there are interdependent goals, they should be planned and illustrated as well.


3.Research at least three goal management software applications (e.g. GoalPro, Microsoft Outlook Goalscape) and determine one suitable for your goal. (Note you will need to be able to provide printouts of your plan from the application).


4.Use your preferred application to plan how you will achieve your goal, (and provide printouts as evidence).


You will need to ensure that your plan facilitates and realistically prioritises any competing demands, whilst allowing you to achieve the goals as efficiently as practical and possible.


5.Prepare a summary report to explain your plan, including-


i.A brief explanation how the goal relates to your current work role, accountabilities and responsibilities, or how it relates to your studies.


ii.A brief discussion on how you intend to manage the stress in your life and how you can achieve a positive work-life balance
