1. POWER, POLITICS, AND CONFLICTS IN SPORT
Sources of Power for YMCA
YMCA as a youth organization has been working to make the youths of a country brave, responsible, and aware of everything that is happening around the world by indulging them in Christian programs. YMCA is a non-governmental organization spread across the world. YMCA stands for Young Men’s Christian Association. At present the associated words to empower and encourage young men and women to develop their overall life skills (Beets et al., 2016). They have been vocal about making the future generation stronger in terms of leadership qualities, relationships, and so on so that the world is a better place to live in. They primarily teach this through the medium of sports and help the youngsters develop physically and mentally. It is a non-governmental organization that helps to make the young nation a better product for the future.
Consultant’s influence on power and politics within the organization
The role of a consultant would be to improvise and showcase the values of a company and work on any changes as need be. The initiative of the YMCA has been beneficial as the citizens are trained from a very young age to learn and hone their skills in the fields they choose to serve. Y also does a lot of charity to the people in need and helps them be better off. They run child care centers that take care of the families belonging to the low-income groups, who cannot afford a proper living.
Political Landscape
YMCA has proposed different campaigns and programs throughout to involve an active contribution of the youth. Health professionals noticed that there was a negative impression of politics and power among the young population and many of them were scared to come out with opinions and be part of the government's ideologies and prospects. They came to believe whatever social media propagated and were sure of the negativity in politics. To change this judgment and let them know about the actual ways in which the government works.
Conflict management in YMCA
Handling the supply chain after the company will have a lot of conflict management to work upon. The problem also stood with detachment and the ideologies. With the help of YMCA’s Advocacy Camp, they took the responsibility of motivating teens to be socially responsible (E & O, 2017). The team took teenagers to national and state representatives and educated them about the importance of having a voice of their own. This provided the opportunity for teenagers to learn about the real intentions and processes behind the actions of the government.
2. ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND DECISION MAKING: THE LEADERSHIP IMPERATIVE
YMCA Dilemma in Decision Making
Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) often referred to as Y is a non-profit organization dedicated to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. It is the largest provider of after school and child care. Some of the most loving sports, including basketball, volleyball, and racquetball were all the inventions of this organization. Physical fitness and its much spread awareness were initiated in this non-profit association. It won’t be wrong to say that all these non-scholastic activities in schools are a gift from this organization for the overall development of any child.
A strong and effective board helps YMCA in achieving its goals. The board consists of ethical and robust community leaders who work effectively and efficiently to push fellow members and the association in a forward direction. Such a board provides more effective governance by ensuring productive meetings, transparent commissions, clarity of roles, and other effective practices (Ehrenreich et al., 2015). Committed to its goal, the YMCA also arranges resources needed to support the organization’s programs and facilities. Every year a campaign is conducted with the help of volunteers in which every member makes a significant contribution, and the board provides leadership.
Organisational Culture Manifestation
YMCA is building global-minded leaders of the next generation with cultural competencies, relationship skills, and hands-on experience. These certified leaders from volunteers or staff members of the association are capable of providing a positive impact. The certification programs consist of four stages, namely Global YMCA orientation, Dimensions of diversity, Cultural lenses, and Local dig project.
Managing Organisational Culture
Being an international not for profit organization, the YMCA has a diverse culture in its employees. With members joining from different parts of the globe, managing organizational culture inside the YMCA becomes a critical task. Although a Christian Association following the Christian code of conduct, the organization still invites and is open for people of all religions to participate. Children, men, and women of all ages regardless of their...
