According to a Reconciliation Australia research, 52 percent of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals had encountered at least one type of racial discrimination in the last 6 months, and the workplace can offer significant hurdles to employment. As per the report of Diversity Council Australia, 30% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees have encountered non-inclusive organisational cultures, and 19% do not trust their organisation to treat them fairly (Temple et al 2020,p.376).In order for developing the cultural capability among the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander we have to give importance to CCF (Cultural Competency Framework). It helps for improving the skills and abilities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander for executing the tasks in a effective way.
It provides a methodology for fostering the development of key talents across the sector.
According to the words of Russell Taylor, (2020) The government and companies has to understand the actual needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and based on that they have to develop effective frameworks. While developing the framework they also have to consider the influence of internal and external factors. Employees in the Commonwealth public sector have a wide range of impacts on the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are among Australia's most vulnerable residents (Lees et al 2019,p.2). The Australian Government is committed to making a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with specific goals in health, employment, and education. Improving results in these and other areas calls for cultural competence. The capacity to collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the creation and execution of policies, programmes, and services that affect them is also critical (Taylor et al 2019,p.18).
