Students will complete the instrument/questionnaire during tutorial time and discuss the results as a group, exploring the various conflict modes during simulation exercises; then respond to the questions listed below. 1. Watch video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4eObpGH3l0 2. Complete copy of Thomas-Kilmann Mode Instrument. 3. Look at results provided – student’s top 2 conflict resolution modes. 4. Discuss results as a class. 5. Use different modes of conflict resolution during in-class simulations. 6. Read the resources on the moodle site. 7. Provide written responses to results – due Friday week 8. Questions to consider after identification of top 2 Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Modes: • What are your top two Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode results? Explain these in your own words. (Use the resources on the unit site to assist.) • Do you agree with these results? To support your answer, provide two examples of when you have demonstrated these conflict modes in action either at work or in inter-personal relationships. • If you disagree, provide two examples of the conflict mode(s) you believe you actually use in conflict situations. • State which other mode of conflict mode you would like to develop, and how you would go about developing it. (Articles on the unit site will provide some insight). Students may use information from the lectures, and the resources on moodle, or apply alternative conflict mode strategies from your own independent research. There is a list of resources on the unit site/moodle page to assist with providing academic sources of information and discussion – it is expected you will include evidence in your discussion that you have read some of these. All resources must be cited correctly using APA 7 referencing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4eObpGH3l0

Introduction
In every individual’s life, a conflict situation always transpires, which are sometimes uncontrollable and unpredictable. They sometimes yearn to get rid out of these conflict situations or sometimes they create certain conflict situations for others in order to put them in trouble. Thomas- Kilmann conflict mode instruction has been designed in order to measure the individual’s behaviour in certain conflict situations.
When two individuals concern and opinion appears to be incompatible there this conflict situations arises. Two-dimensional behaviour is observed in such conflict situations and they are assertiveness and cooperativeness, which thereby comprises of different responding modes such as competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding and accommodating.
Top 2 Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode:
Competing:
This is a Thomas-Kilmann conflict mode, which is non-cooperative as well as assertive in sense. Competitions are always welcome in every organisation as it encourages and energies the employees to struggle and fulfil their desire and determined goal but this competitive nature should not take an over power-oriented mentality, from which thereby results in a conflict situation. ‘Competing’ means simply trying, to win anyhow by any means, without bothering about others. As stated by Harms (2017), this is a power- oriented mode where an individual is found to use their power anyhow in order to win, hold their position, their capacity to argue, their ranks and economic sanctions.
Avoiding:
This is a Thomas-Kilmann conflict mode, which are both non-cooperative as well as un assertive in sense. Here individuals neither shows their own concern towards others nor they pursue some one’s other concerns and by doing so they just avoid the conflict situations. By avoiding any problematic situation, the individual is actually sidestepping diplomatically from the conflict situation (Qadir, 2020). They are found to just postponed the conflicts situations and wait for the favourable situations, they simply avoid getting involved in any serious situations or simply they avoid expressing their own concern towards other in order to ignore the conflict situations.
