Introduction
Leadership is one of the most debated phenomena from centuries. Leadership is complex group process, through which an individual tries to influence and inspire a large gathering or number of peoples to follow their motives or activities (Reichel, 2018). This has been seen that that an effective leadership does motivate the employees of an organisation and that resulted to increased productivity. The project will highlight that how a leader in an organisation applies the key principles for the effectiveness of organisational operations and managing the team of employees in the competitive global environment to achieve the organisational goals. For this current assignment, Barack Obama has been chosen as the ideal leader to be evaluated for his traits, leadership skills and styles that have helped him lead the economy of the US in such an efficient manner.
A. Leadership Characteristics, Skills and Knowledge of Business of Barack Obama
Barack Obama, the 44th US president serving the office for two terms, is one of the most influential leaders who had not only influenced the cabinet minister sand the people of America, rather his influential nature had impact on many countries even they did not have friendly relations with America (Elkatawneh, 2016). The reason behind Barack Obama had some leadership traits, which made him so influential. The leadership traits are as follows:
· Conviction and Perseverance: He believed that if something is right and one think that are in the right track then that can influence others to follow the right path no matter how much time did it take.
· Change: He always believed that chance is the important aspect to run anything; it is either a country or a business. Without change, one cannot be able to adopt the new trends and without adopting the new trends, one will cease to exist.
· We-not-I Attitude: One of the most important characters of a leader is that they always work in groups and shares the credit of success with everyone. The same character was possessed by Obama and that can be heard in his speeches and can be seen in his work. Making everyone involved around not only motivates the people however it helps is successfully completion of the project.
· Taking Risk: A successful leader is never shy or afraid of taking risk in any task. Further taking risk is not the capability everyone posses and it needs a strong will power to take risk. The trait of taking risk was there in Obama where he had taken many risk and that can be seen in his work such as hunting down the most wanted terrorist Osama Bin Laden. He always encouraged peoples to take risks, however he himself and said to other to take calculated risks.
· The Art of Communication: A person cannot be a leader until he mastered himself or herself into a great communicator. A good communicator is a good listener and speaker both. Barack Obama has the trait of a good communicator and he always influenced people with what he said. He was also a good listener and that helped him to perform his presidential duties in an effective way.
· Turning Endings into New Beginnings: A leader is never satisfied with his own work and they always look for achieving more. Barack Obama has the same trait for achieving more and that quality had led him to see the areas of opportunities where the rest of the people were seeing the end.
