Assessment Event 1 – Research Report

Each year more and more Australian businesses globalise and there are micro and macro factors that underpin this significant push offshore. They face many challenges in setting up operations in an overseas business environment that can be very different to the one in Australia.
Select any country outside of Australia and New Zealand
and;
1. Identify and analyse two globalisation forces for an Australian business that might cause them to set up operations in that country. In other words what forces are driving Australian businesses to expand to overseas markets and countries.
2. Review and discuss the conditions in that country that would make it favourable for expansion and those conditions that would be deemed unfavourable and pose challenges for expansion. Where unfavourable conditions are identified provide recommendations to manage these.
3. Describe any ethical issues and how they relate to the business environment and legislation in Australia.
This assessment requires you to undertake research and should include the relevant parts of the subject content of the first five weeks.
N.B: The focus here is not for a specific company, product or service it is a general research and critical analysis assessment for a country.
This is an academic report and requires analysis and synthesis of academic literature found in refereed journals and academic books. The report is to be written using academic conventions including citations and references. As a guide, 8-10 academic references are expected and the report must include the subject textbook as a reference. Additional (optional) references may be cited from any source. These should be documented using TAFE NSW Harvard AGPS reference style. The references are not included in the word count.
The report should begin with an introduction that guides the reader on how you are going to approach the case study. It should provide a brief overview of the key areas you are going to cover and your main findings. It should be professionally presented with 12 point, 1 ½ spaced, Arial or Calibri font.
Work submitted for all assignments must be accompanied by a completed and signed copy of the Assessment Cover Sheet. Students should always retain an electronic copy of their submitted assessment.
