Criterion 1: Accurate biographical summary that incorporates at least one
social determinant that impacted Clague in her childhood.
It’s important to provide a
ief background about the person. You will need to
know enough biographical information about Clague to be able to identify the
social determinants that impacted her. To do this well, you’ll also need to know
about the society she grew up in at that time – what was it like for an Aboriginal
woman at that time, in that place?
There’s no need to give us a long series of facts about the person – that doesn’t
answer the question.
Criterion 2: Accurate description of the segregation era of policy.
Discusses how this might have influenced Clague.
You need to accurately describe the segregation era of policy. Do some
esearch on what was happening in Australia and the world around that time.
Also, research what Australian society was like during that time, particularly

Get to know the list of the social determinants of health specific to Aboriginal and

es Strait Islander people from module 4. Look at Clague’s work and
achievements to discover where/ how she has helped to improve one of those
social determinants for many or all Aboriginal and To
es Strait Islander people.
Criterion 4: Clarity and creativity of presentation.
Be as creative as you can while making sure the information is clear to the
marker. Make sure any writing on your slides is clear and easy to read. When
you’ve finished, download your PPT to a USB and open it on a different
computer to check how it looks and sounds. You can use the li

to do this. Remember: if we can’t see or hear your work clearly, we can’t give
you marks for it.

The Social Determinants of Health and Racism
Introduction
Joyce is an Australian Yaegl elder and civic reformer.
Her campaign is structured around social advancement for the Abor
iginal population.
Joyce Clague went to live in Sydney as a young child to study health care in the middle of 1950 (Burney, 2017).
She enlisted in the National-Indigenous Fellowship and became acquanited with its generals, as well as with the Aborigines Progressive Federation.
Clague, presently 80 years old, has endured multiple strokes but continues to advocate for Aboriginal rights and social equity.
Joyce was made an MBE, a Member of the Order of the British Empire, in 1977, a regard her patriarch compelled her to concede as a representative of the Aboriginal population (Baird & Belton, 2018).

Joyce pertains to retrieving an MBE as being more black than ever before, expressing her great attitude.
Clague goes on to claim a candidature for the National Labor Party for seats in New South Wales, contributing to his head on the tip of these endeavours.
During the initiative, Clague glavanised numerous non-Aboriginal populations to plebiscite and register for the egalitarian society, which had become recognised as the "YES" polling (Burney, 2017).

Joyce’s Biography
Clague was born in Maclean in 1938.
Education has been the most significantly impacted social determinant.
Despite knowing that Aboriginal pupils in mission educational entities were explicitly vetoed from connecting in their native language, Clague acknowledged Yaegl in terms of engaging with her family and strengthening linkages to her cultural values (Taffe, 2001).
She was barred from riding in the school vehicle with the non-Aboriginal schoolchildren.
Joyce's critical barrier during her early life was the realisation that English was not her native language.
She resettled in Sydney to embrace a professional career in nursing.
Joyce's civic activism was conducted on both a worldwide and a regional level (Laing & Davies, 2020).
