Assignment 5Calculating a Bivariate Regression:This assignment will use the data provided for the previous assignment (correlation assignment from last week). The data set contains three variables:

  1. Self-Control Score (A score from a psychological test designed to measure a person’s self-control. The score ranges from 1-5. With a higher number representing a greater level of self-control.

  2. Drug use (the number of times an individual has used drugs in the last month excluding alcohol).

  3. Friend Use (how many of a persons close friends use drugs excluding alcohol).

Using this data please do the following:Imagine that you hypothesize that there is a relationship between self-control and drug use. This time you decide to run a regression on the data. Please do the following.

  1. First answer the following question. What would be the benefits of conducting a bivariate regression analyses compared to a correlation analyses to answer your research question?

  2. Run a bivariate regression on these two variables in SPSS (self-control, drug use). Report the following:

    1. You should test the assumptions and report your findings: Make sure to check the following assumptions. For the assignment test each assumption and report the results. Indicate whether the data meets each of the following assumptions:

      1. Linearity

      2. Level of Measurement

      3. Normally Distributed Error Term

      4. No Auto Correlation

    2. For this second part assume that you met all of the assumptions to run a bivariate regression (even if you did not). Report the results for the bivariate regression you ran as you would report them in a journal article. Make sure you include all relevant information. You should report the results for the following:

      1. The F test

      2. R2

      3. B (slope) with significance

There are thr
ee variables in the data set. They are described as follows:
1. Self control score: This variable indicates the measure of self control and the value is scaled from 1 to 5.
2. Drug use: This variable indicated that the number of times an individual has used drugs in last month.
3. Friend use: This variable indicated that how many a person’s close friends use drugs.
There is a hypothesis that there is a relationship between variable self control score and drug use. We will use the regression analysis technique to ensure that this is valid or not.
1. Here the benefit of conducting regression analysis as compare to correlation analysis is very huge. As the correlation coefficient only tell about the degree of...
