Education is one of the most important right that everyone should receive and the proper way. The education can be delivered properly when only the teachers and mediators convey the message to the students as they could receive the information properly and that will serve the entire purpose of effective teaching. The following project is about the methods of teachings that are being adopted and special analysis of Feuerstein theory and the design of the enrichment programme. Further discussion will be made on cultural deprivation and cultural differences and the way, it had affected the instrumental enrichment programme choices will be discussed in this project.
Feuerstein Conception on How Children Learn
Learning sometimes becomes not so attractive if the way the topics are being presented in an attractive manner. Lebeer (2016) have discussed the way the learning can be made attractive by highlighting the methods Feuerstein have used. The Feuerstein method is a one kind of unique technique developed by the world’s renowned psychologist Reuven Feuerstein, where he has applied a process based approach, which focus on developing the vitally important and often overlooked skill of learning and taping subsequently into an individual’s latent intellectual capabilities. The theory of structural cognitive modifiability suggest that that in order to create a systematic change the intervention of individual personnel via a human mediation which is a fundamental shift in how a learner is being taught to process and interact with the information across all aspects of their lives. The process is called as mediated learning experience and is implemented through two applied learning systems, which are the Learning Propensity Assessment Device and instrumental enrichment. Mutlu and Sahin (2019) have explained that Learning Propensity Assessment Device is an extensive assessment whose goal is to identify which cognitive processes are weak and are further developed in order to maximize individual’s cognitive abilities. Whereas instrumental enrichment is a cognitive intervention program, which is specially designed instrument, is a series of pencil, and paper task that may be mediated in a classroom group or individual setting. Intelligence is not static structure, however is an open and dynamic system that can continue throughout the life, is the most powerful statement by Feuerstein regarding the role of education, which unfortunately is still not accepted by the psychological and educational establishment in a wide manner. Education can have a greater importance if the intelligence can be modified and it can be learned or taught properly (Feuerstein & Nolte-Odhiambo, 2017). The concept of mediated learning, as proposed by Feuerstein, is described as the proximal determinant of a differential cognitive development program. It is based on the assumption that “the human development cannot be considered as a sole medicine of the neurophysiologic maturation and it cannot be considered either as a simple product of the individual opportunity to encounter the exposure to stimuli and active interaction with himself or herself”. Considering these determinants the flow of the information that is transmitted to an individual through the mediation channels made by mediation itself as to ensure that a higher mental function is developed.
This development of higher mental function through the mediation means will increase the acceptability level of the children and learning new things will not be a big problem for them. The mediation process further ensures that the content and the structure of the education system are...
