There are certain aspects that ought to be considered before the decision is made final. These aspects include the nature and severity of the offence, the difference between time of conviction and the interview, the nature of the job for which the applicant is applying. In this case, the applicant had been convicted for possessing illicit drugs and served prison, however all this happened 10 years ago. The job for which he is being hired is for a night supervisor position. According to Nichols (2018), possession of illicit drugs for personal use is considered an infraction and a minor violation. The hiring manager cannot simply deny the job role because of this reason.
Moreover, a hiring manager or even an organisation cannot move beyond 7 years when doing a background check. In this case, the conviction happened 10 years ago. Therefore, as a hiring manager I would like to hire the applicant. The...
