McCole – week 4 – Application of 5-Whys
In this week’s exercise, I used an example of a problem I’m experiencing at work. We have many data projects that we are trying to complete; yet we seem incapable of completing them. The 5-Why analysis helped me take a step back and walk through the problem by looking at what has actually happened and not my opinion or might happen (Boutros, 2016). In my PowerPoint, I put the Why question in the box to help guide my questions and focus.
The problem, data projects are not getting completed. Through the 5-Why analysis, I uncovered the root cause to this problem. There is a lack of leadership and ownership of data projects. Due to the root cause, the team does not clearly understand the objectives they are trying to meet, which is why they struggle to complete the projects.
