Introduction
Change refers to the transformation of any particular thing. Change is the most constant thing in the world. The meaning of change refers to the transformation or moulding an evident thing into something new. Change refers to the adaptation of new trends in society. It refers to getting rid of the previo
us things and adapting to new changes (Uhl and Gollenia, 2016). Changes are not only restricted in personal life but also extend in the organisations.
There are different types of changes in the organisation. The organisation adapts to various kinds of changes as per the needs in the market and of the customers. The changes are strategic, structural, people-oriented, process-oriented, planned and emergent. These changes are adopted by the organisation according to the needs of the organisation given in various situations.
Change is a continual process. There is no way in which change can be avoided. Change has a positive impact on the organisation. Through the adoption of the change, the organisation can get rid of the primitive thoughts which are rigid and are not applicable in today's market. With the change in the organisation, the organisation can compete better in the dynamic market. This is the positive impact of the change.
However, everything has some negative aspects, so does the change. The change is not always welcomed in every aspect. In an organisation, the change, sometimes, is not accepted by all the employees (Blomqvist, 2017). In that case, the adoption of the change might not ensure a smooth workforce in the company.
Activity 1
P3
As mentioned earlier in the context, there are several negative impacts that change can have, especially in the organisation. The negative impacts include the problems of the adoptions. The employees do not get to understand the dynamics of the change and this fails to perform. Other negative impacts of the change include job loss. Any technological change can result in the loss of the job. The negative impact of the change can also result in the loss of the organisation (Szarek, 2017).
To mitigate such issues there are some adaptations of the measures that need to be taken by the organisation
Training and Development
Some employees face difficulty in adapting to the new changes in the organisation. This results in the loss in the capabilities of the production. These issues can be mitigated with proper training. If the employees are given proper training by the leaders, they can adapt to the new changes. However, it has some advantages and disadvantages as well.
Advantages
· Increases job satisfaction
· Increases the motivation
· Ines the efficiency of the employees
Disadvantages
· Includes a lot of cost and time
· Loss of interest
· Lack of proper and effective leadership qualities
Opportunity Scopes for the Employees
Since the technological change in the organisation can create a huge gap in employment, the organisation needs to make sure that there are other scopes of employment for the employees (Hayes, 2018). The organization needs to create other employment scopes for the employees so that they do not lose their jobs
Advantages
· This would create a sense of job security
· This would create a sense of dedication towards the organisation
· Motivation would increase
Disadvantages
· The employees might not be able to perform better in other scopes
· Includes a lot of time and training
· Might not be applicable everywhere
Market Research
Through the effective market, the organisation would be able to know what kind of changes apply to the organisation. Through detailed market research, the organisation would not run in the loss.
Advantages
· Would help the organisation to understand the market demands and act accordingly
· Would help the organisation to get prepared for challenges
Disadvantages
· Includes a lot of time
· Costly
P1
Drivers of the change refer to the factors that lead to the change in the organisation. Several factors lead to a change in the organisation.
Marks and Spencers is one of the leading companies in the UK. It is one of the most leading retailers in the country. It has adopted various kinds of changes over the last decades to make sure that the company remains well-grounded in the market. There have been many drivers of changes that have led the company to adopt the changes. Those are:
Customer’s preferences
Within the advent of time, the customer's preferences have changed. Their tastes and their likings have evolved. So, the company has adopted the change in the products because of them
