At this point, you’ve organized your ideas into an outline. Please review my notes on your outline in order to revise and assemble your paper. As a reminder, here is the formal assignment prompt: This literary criticism essay explores a common theme or motif in at least two works of literature. This essay explores its topic in greater depth than the previous short essays, and must use supporting sources. The criticism essay will be a more elaborate version of the short essays you’ve written in this course. In fact, you can use one of your short essays as a first draft. Choose at least two works of literature that we have studied in this course. Choose a common theme, topic, or motif in these two works. Your essay should explore the following:

  1. Similarities and differences between how these works treat your theme, topic, or motif.

  2. The significance of your theme, topic, or motif.

  3. The main point you want to make about the theme, topic, or motif—in other words, an argumentative thesis statement.

  4. Details from the literary works that support your thesis statement.

This essay should follow the basic introduction, body, conclusion structure learned in College Composition. Since this is a literary criticism essay, your analysis and argument should be rooted in a close reading of your literary sources. For this essay, you’ll also need to use supporting sources. In many cases, you’ll find that scholarly research has been done on your specific literary works. In other cases, you may look for research related to the genre, theme, or historical context of these works. You must have at least 5 sources. (This is a minimum number. There is no maximum number.) Your sources must include at least 2 works of literature that we have studied during this course. Your sources must also include at least 2 academic journal articles or academic nonfiction books. Your essay should be at least 1200 words long

Introduction
The two epics which are The Winnebago Tales and Gilgamesh both illustrates and highlights several events which emphasizes on the li
fe after death and the events which emanates thereafter. On one hand the story of Winnebago is a collection or series of stories which are based on the characteristics of Native Americans and the myths which features the tricksters. This trickster is a form of lifeforce and cultural illustration of the mankind which transforms itself into many different forms such as human beings, wild animals, plants and various other objects in this beautiful world. In the epic Gilgamesh, who was the king of Uruk, it illustrates about the Gilgamesh’s torture towards his pupil and his greed for becoming immortal. Further, almost two-third of Gilgamesh resembled like God and one-third like a man. Although Gilgamesh was cruel to his country people, he builds temples towers which was surrounded by high walls and marvelous ziggurats in the city of Uruk (Britannica, 2021). In the epic story of Gilgamesh there were different characters along with events which came to represent the orders and chaos which was being presented to the natural and cultured world. Hence, it was only after the balance of two contradictory forces which helped Gilgamesh to bring harmony and pleasure in Uruk along with his own internal joy and prosperity. Both the stories were centered around a specific aspect which is the preconceived notions as well as the stereotypes with respect to both the men and women in the society (Abusch).
Through the story of Winnebago Tales, the author Paul Radin wanted to convey the significance of love towards the nature. He also raises his voices towards the gender inequality along with racial discrimination which was clearly observed in the Winnebago Tales. On the other hand, Gilgamesh which was written by Joan London illustrates the competence of the position held by Gilgamesh in the city of Uruk. But this epic does not illustrate any incidence of sexuality by one gender towards the other, although there were few instances of falling in love by the characters in the epic.
Therefore, in both the stories, it was the nature in the form of God who was considered as the supreme authority to save and destroy the mankind on earth. Hence, it was the way the mankind viewed and treated the nature, they were being treated in the similar manner. In Gilgamesh it was observed that the women were sexually being harassed by Gilgamesh who protested against his reign. But overall, the women were being respected and the men were being considered as strong and powerful. There is a solid representation of the gender along with description of the roles which were usually based on orthodox thinking.
