3.3-WDD110-assignment Submission Guidelines: When you have completed the lab please save your file as 3.3-WDD110-lastname.jpg and submit via the assignment link. If you are unsure how, please ask your instructor. Directions: Follow the instructions below. 1. Create a new document and draw out a rounded rectangle in whatever color you would like. 2. Apply a dark color to light color linear gradient layer style to the rounded rectangle. 3. Apply a light colored inner glow to the rounded rectangle. 4. Copy the rounded rectangle layer, turn the new layer into a rasterized layer, color it white, and delete half to create the gloss. Make sure and turn down the opacity on this new layer. 5. Duplicate the rounded rectangle again into a new layer, change the color to black, and use free form to create a shadow. Apply a Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur to this shadow layer. 6. Create the separators by using the selection tools to create a 1 pixel wide line of black or white (whichever looks better). Directions: Please follow the questions/statements down below in order to complete the final. Since the project has stages, each assignment in week 5 represents a ‘stage’ through the process of completing your final. Submission Guidelines: When you have completed the project make sure you have all stages saved under each week 5 assignment. When your final is complete, save the final version with the naming convention: “WDD110-Final-lastname” before turning in via MLP. The PSD(s) will be used to showcase your work in class. The first stage of the Final is to decide on a movie poster to redesign. It should be a movie you already have seen and like so you can have the most insight necessary for the project. a. Go online, find and save a copy of the original movie poster so that we can compare that at the end of the project. 2. Set up document in Photoshop: a. Dimensions for US printer: 11 x 17 inches. b. Color Mode: RGB c. Resolution:300ppi (dpi) 3. Contents needed in our Movie Poster: a. Must Haves: i. Title ii. slogan iii. pertinent imagery iv. when its released v. who's in it b. Optional: i. age rating ii. star rating iii. quotes iv. producers, director(s), writer(s), etc. 4. Sketching: a. Have three different sketches made what your poster’s layout might look like. b. Sketches can be made on paper and scanned for use in Photoshop or can be drawn directly on canvas. c. We’ll choose in class which design looks to be the strongest and continue your design process from there. 5. Choose and collect the following to use as content for your poster: a. Choose Font-families, sizes and styles. i. Font 1: More decorative for the movie title and/or tagline. ii. Font 2: A more basic, easy to read font for the remaining textual content. b. Collect a number of online/personal images or graphics for use in your poster. 6. Initial composition: a. Using the final sketch begin planned layout. b. Placement of textual content. c. Make text standout from the surrounding design colors. d. Use proper images for graphical portion of the poster. e. Use proper color and value to emphasize elements of your poster. f. Share current work for critiquing. 7. Final composition: a. Finish colors/patterns/graphic styles. b. Use blend modes to help bring the graphics together/making it look more cohesive. c. Use effects to add any extra aesthetics needed. d. Final critiquing of peers and presentation. 8. Final Project Presentation: a. The last day of class will require a live presentation for the class, displaying your work and discussing: i. A Project Summary ii. What you think work. iii. What was the most challenging aspect of the final? iv. If not complete, what will you be adding to finish the final? b. If you are unable to attend a live presentation you may do two of the following: i. Recorded Presentation: Turn in an MP4 file with your final project that features you doing a presentation. ii. Essay: Along with your final project, please turn in a 2-page summary of your work and addressing the points from your presentation. 9.
