This case study is about Ratan Tata, the leader of one of the most eminent business group
s in India, the Tata Group. He was born in 1987 in Mumbai, India, and obtained his education from Cornell University, New York. Afterwards, he returned to India and gained experience in a number of different businesses of the Tata Group. In 1991, he succeeded as the chairman of the Tata Group, after his uncle J.R.D Tata.
The Tata Group is well known for its ethical leadership values. Under the leadership of Ratan Tata, the business not only expanded to a large extent in India, but also expanded globally. Within a period from the years 2000 to 2008, they acquired a number of companies including the London based Tetley Tea, Daewoo Motors of South Korea, top car brands including Jaguar and Land rover among many others. Currently the Tata Group owns a number of businesses which include Tata Chemicals, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Titan among others.
