AHIC is located in the heart of the central business district (CBD) in Sydney. AHIC runs courses such as Certificate IV in Business, Diploma of Business, Advanced Diploma of Business, Certificate IV in Accounting, Diploma of Accounting, Advanced Diploma of Accounting, Certificate III in Individual Support, and Certificate IV in Ageing Support, Diploma of Nursing, Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking, Diploma of Information Technology Networking, Advanced Diploma of Network Security and Diploma of Leadership and Management. For more information about AHIC, please visit following website: www.ahic.edu.au In the event of a disaster, the continued operations of your company depend on the ability to replicate your IT systems and data.  The disaster recovery plan stipulates how a company will prepare for a disaster, what the company’s response will be, and what steps it will take to ensure that operations can be restored.  Disaster recovery describes all of the steps involved in planning for and adapting to a potential disaster with a road map that will restore operations while minimizing the long-term negative impact on the company.   Business continuity planning suggests a more comprehensive approach to ensure your business is operating, not only after a natural catastrophe, but also in the event of smaller disruptions.  Unlike disaster recovery, business continuity involves keeping all aspects of a business functioning rather than just technology systems.  The business continuity plan is a fairly new approach that instructs what steps a company must take to minimize the effects of a service interruption.  This will limit the short-term negative impact on the company. Now AHIC has decided to review and update disaster recovery and contingency plans within the Organisation. PART A You are to identify a business implementing an IT system or with a high dependency on an existing IT system. You must produce a report evaluating the impact of this system on business continuity. Introduction of AHIC: Your report must: · Identify and describe business-critical functions (such as financial systems, Moodle Platform, Wisenet , Network) · Identify and describe the security environment (such as legislation, organisational security policies, customs, expertise and knowledge that are, or may be, relevant as well as the threats to security that are, or are held to be, present in the environment) · Identify and describe critical data and software · Assess the potential impact on the business of risks and threats on IT systems. · Identify and evaluate any statutory requirements, commercial requirements and contingency possibilities taking into account cost constraints PART B Continuing from Assessment Part A you are to identify threats to the system with consideration of security analysis and internal and external business environment. You are then to formulate a prevention and recovery strategy. For identified threats you must evaluate risk minimisation alternatives against specifications and cost constraints. You must include at least the following threat categories: · Physical security · System failure, accident, sabotage (hackers) · Denial of service · Virus attack · Telecommunications failure For your prevention and recovery strategy you must: · Evaluate prevention and recovery options to support critical business functions against business specifications and cost constraints · Review any current operational procedures to ensure adequate risk safeguards and contingency plans are in place. If none, please explain why. PART C Continuing from PART B, you are to develop a disaster recovery plan to support the identified prevention and recovery strategies. Your disaster recovery plan must identify and document: · Recovery requirements from the perspective of business functions · The impact of an extended loss on operations and key business functions · Resources required for disaster recovery · Processes required for disaster recovery · Logistics requirements of disaster recovery · Cut over criteria to be met before initiating the disaster plan Your
