BI Ethical Case:

I am the CIO of Facebook, and I want to buy data from Google as soon as possible. However, we don’t know the origins of the data and how the data was collected from Google.
We must comprehend the data's source and make sure it doesn't fit under any unethical categories, such as data theft, data sales that are incorrect, misuse of data etc. In addition, it is also important to confirm with Google that the local data privacy rules have been followed while collecting customer data. Every nation has data privacy laws, and businesses like Google that collect and utilize consumer data make their policies apparent on their websites so that customers may learn more about them.

Utilitarianism and Rights (Kant model) are two ethical frameworks that help come up with ideas for solutions Making a choice that benefits the greatest number of people and safeguards their interests is called utilitarianism. Alternative courses of action are identified, and the decision that will serve most people's interests is made.

The foundation of Kant's rights model is his belief that every person has the right to be treated fairly, equally, and with dignity. Law defines legal rights, whereas moral rights are established in community and cultural norms. A person has the right to choose how to interact with others and how others should treat him.

The above two approaches are the ethical models to brainstorm the solutions.

PEST analysis for Facebook to build the online video rental service in China:

i)

Political factor:

Political unpredictability in China is a major factor that must be considered by the corporation before operating there. Chinese government policies are subject to periodic change, which lessens the impact of international corporations on the Chinese market and benefits local Chinese businesses that the company's direct competitors in the given industry. In addition, one of the main obstacles to implement video rental services in China is the country's tight regulatory regulations. Thus, any company's entire organizational structure will be greatly impacted by this political instability, and because Facebook collaborates with specialized specialists for other businesses, it will have to deal with China's powerful political influence. China is particularly focused on its own culture from a social perspective and does not readily accept international businesses or foreign culture in their working operations.

ii)

Economic factors:

First, if we consider the contemporary situation, we can easily see that the Chinese economy has been significantly impacted by COVID-19. Starting Facebook's new initiative in China might be crucial at first. The other reasons are since there are huge number of intense rivalry and abundance of alternatives in chines market that would lessen the Factbook’s influence. So, before entering China, Facebook should examine and evaluate the effects of its rivals by doing competitor research and long-term market observation.

Facebook would have an extremely difficult time competing in a foreign environment since the Chinese market is heavily impacted by the political elements of the government and the regulations are in favor of Chinese enterprises. Lastly, For Facebook, the current bank rate in China may be cause for concern.

iii)

Social factors:

In the same specific organization, Facebook had a highly diverse range of distinct specialties, which strategy has proven to be profitable for emerging nations like America and the surrounding nations. But Chines market is extremely competitive, and it is not easy for a foreign service company to establish their position very quickly. It will reduce the Facebook's overall influence in the Chinese market because the business lacks individuals with expertise in China as well as Facebook need to hire local employees in China to comply with local social requirements. Therefore, due to China's vastness and the fact that each area in China responds to organizations differently, so entering the Chinese market would need a thorough examination of the specific place.

iv)

Technological factors

: In the technical perspective, China is quite advanced, but the primary issue with this development is that China utilizes its own technology to collaborate with foreign businesses, which results in a technical gap between two organizations. Keeping all record using electronic records systems and understanding it, which is crucial for a business-like Facebook. It will increase the overall growth of a company, but it would take more work to interpret the electronic records and provide various services in China. In addition, since much of the television in China is banned and internet-based television is already available, Facebook would have a very difficult time making money in China if they implemented their online TV program.

Overall, we can conclude that Facebook has the chance to operate in China, but it must be extremely precise and cautious by accurately analyzing the market situation and acting in accordance with that.

2.
