BMA701 Leadership and Change Management

Description / conditions

Due: - 20 May 2021

Time: - 20:00

The purpose of this individual assessment task is to provide you the opportunity for theoretically informed critical reflection on your experiences of work, volunteering, study, or sport.

Respond to the questions below by integrating your personal experiences with your understanding of leadership and change management research gained through this unit. The aim is for you to use theory to help you ‘make sense’ of your own experiences and to guide your future action.

1. Explain a time you experienced or demonstrated leadership. What was it like? Use academic theory and principles to explain (500 words)

2. Explain a time you experienced or led change. What was it like? Use academic theory and principles to explain (500 words)

3. Explain how your learning in this unit will inform your future leadership and/or change management practice (500 words)

For this assessment, you may write in the first person. However, you still need to integrate academic theory and principles by making clear references to academic sources. Theory and principles should be used to help make sense of your experiences; you may also use your experience to demonstrate how/where theory/principles fall short in applicability.

Note: The rational for this assessment is grounded in evidence that structured, critical, after-event review (ie you reviewing your past experience of leadership and change, combined with your learning in this unit) facilitates leadership development. For more on this see the following article in the BMA701

It is a common belief that leaders are generally made but not born. However, there are certain prerequisites for being a successful leader. Dedication and commitment, knowledge as well as prac

It is for sure that good leaders are made in the process of their leadership path and they are not just born with the qualities that are required for accomplishment of their mission. The entire process requires a good amount of self-study and tenacity. It is a continuous growth process and enhances with the dedication of a leader. The current assignment will reflect upon these aspects in detail.
Question 1
Educational leadership in its full form was something that I had experienced in the early years of my career. In almost all the educational organisations, that I have been associated with a strong environment of educational management was visible, which formed the base of the entire operating system. A management process based on the tenets of educational leadership involves several arrangements as well as deployment of systems. The optimisation of a certain process can be achieved if all the units can be collaborated to work as a unified whole. Performance of a process helps in ensuring that educational development will take place through constant development and implementation of relevant processes (Cameron & Green, 2019).
This kind of a management process fits very well into schools and colleges to keep the management processes running. This process keeps the standards of the system at par with quality management systems as well as application of the standards in an organisation. The proper documentation of a process and its performance helps and supports effective decision-making and improvement of an educational organisation's overall performance. The indicators of quality management that are involved in this process ensures that both the academic as well as non-academic staff receive continuous training and motivation for an overall efficient performance. This process also helps in the building of professional communities dedicated to educational performance.
It is very helpful for the operational needs of an organisation if they can impart effective leadership roles to the academic staff. Relieving teachers from non-teaching activities helps them in focusing more on teaching activities and self-training (Faupel & Sub, 2019). This in turn results in less number of managerial activities in educational organisations. An effective leadership style for instance a transformational kind of leadership can help bring forth the right number of changes and upgrades that an educational organisation needs during a process of change. In educational organisations helps in the achievement of myriad benefits.
Good amount of educational leadership gives educational institutions an opportunity to run the school affairs with a holistic approach. Effectiveness in educational leadership style provides a solid framework, which can help in the identification of the essential requirements of the management of the educational organisation. This can be used to identify and improve the management of an educational organisation at a regular interval. This kind of a management theory is often called transactional leadership theory. This is very effective in bringing...
