Task 2 – Portfolio of Evidence
Part A – Assessing Knowledge and Skills
1. Refer to the responsibilities outlined in the Fitness Instructor job description in the additional resources section and answer the following questions: (approx. 150 words)
a. Identify two (2) skills that you employ to fulfil your work role as a fitness instructor that you feel needs improvement
Two skills that I would prefer improving is the regular risk assessment of the clients based on the criteria provided as well as pre-workout questionnaire development.
b. For each skill, identify one (1) concept that you employ to successfully demonstrate this
With regard to improving the risk assessment, the concept applied is Standard Fitness Business Practice and for developing pre-workout questionnaire, it is related to the concept of maintaining healthy workplace conditions.
c. Identify one (1) industry standard requirement for each concept to evidence your skill
The applicable provisions are section 4.1 (a) and section 4.7 (b) of Fitness Industry Regulation.
d. Briefly describe what you need to improve on or add, to further develop your knowledge in the skill, in order to improve in the skill itself
I would ensure thorough examination of the common equipment used, in case of any maintenance service required; the suppliers will be contacted immediately for servicing. The development of questionnaire is subjected to request the clients to fill out a form, in which, details of their personal information; any allergic condition, medical condition as well as use of any illegal drug in the past will be taken for consideration.
e. Based on your answers in above, why do you feel you need to improve upon the skills you identified?
The improvement in the given conditions is expected because it is necessary for a fitness instructor to have updated information about the equipment used in the centre. At the same time, the clients’ related information helps in developing the fitness plan and it helps the instructor to know more about the clients on both personal as well as professional grounds (Fields & Unsworth, 2017).

What is one aspect of your organisation’s business or marketing plan reflected by your short-term goal?
