The Bergin Inquiry Report (An Inquiry under section 143 of the Casino Control Act 1992 (NSW)) dated February 1, 2021 was publicly released on 9 February 2021. In this assignment, you will look at this report and consider it in the broader context of corporate governance.The aim of this assignment topic is to allow students to learn about corporate governance in practice and to move beyond a theoretical understanding.Required:Prepare a research essay entitled ‘Crown Resorts Limited and the Bergin Inquiry – a corporate governance case study’. In your answer, at a minimum, you should address the following:• The events that led to the commissioning of the report.• An overview of the contents of the report.• The way the report was released and the response to the report in the media.• The implications of the report for the board of directors and individual directors,including known events after the release of the report (you may choose a cut-off date for your study – you must specify this date in your essay).
