Organization History:

ENRON was established in 1986 by Ken Lay. Initial idea was to open a gas bank over the globe. He approached Enron to design a system of a Gas Bank where, vendor and supplier of natural gas could manage with each other via common platform i.e Enron. The contractual terms and agreement would offer to individual parties with consistency and certainty of assessing cost and distribution. Enron’s onboarded him to smoothly execute this business plan and he promptly create a massive gas trading operation in the early nineties. Throughout this era Enron managed to create its piping network into a large power or energy supply business. Primarily in the USA and then on a global scale. Company had secure deals all around the globe, from South America to china. The solid and dynamic growth of Enron’s energy business crafted a worldwide status for the company. Skiling was assigned as chief operating officer by Ken lay. Over 2000, Enron’s stake was high and Lay, Skiling were known for their revolutionary thinking and successful businessperson.
Unethical Behavior –
Company was not into unethical business on their initial days. There’s famous quote by (Churchill, n.d.) “Dictators ride to fro upon tigers which they dare not dismount. And the tigers are getting hungry”. The unethical methods were commenced on the interest of individual’s wealth via dynamic progress. This drives them to a quite risky spur to lure and persuade very intelligent and dynamic professionals, which turns out to an unhealthy and short-term goals. Simultaneously the next step was on to search for certain proposals which could be led rational figures for progressive earnings. Eventually company left with a deficit in cashflow. This led the organization on its quick borrowing techniques. Company issued more equity which disturbed the harmony of the stock price. Therefore, they came up with a plan to generate a fund secretly and all the relevant methods has to be concealed. This was the baby steps towards a dishonored and unethical organization behavior which secretly promoted the vendor, supplier, stakeholder and even their colleagues. Enron’s huge success was the cover up or the mask for their unethical behavior.
