CASE STUDY ASSIGNMENT FOR QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS

Management science and business analytics is a subject that is just as applicable in the classroom as it is in our everyday lives.

The goals of this assignment are to: (1) improve your awareness of current events that occur during the semester and relate to both our class discussions and the overall mission of this course, and (2) communicate your case analysis through summary notes and an oral presentation. Managerial decision-making usually involves a blend of solid quantitative analytical tools and subjective qualitative aspects, and both should be covered in this presentation.

For this assignment, you are to select from the following options:

· Quantitative analysis topic of your interest (e.g., decision analysis); or

· Current event article in the media that relates to business analytics (
article dated between March 15, 2021 – PRESENT
). Please provide the reference to article if this option is chosen

The finished products of this case study analysis will be professional-quality
summary notes
and an
oral presentation
. The details of these products are as follows:

·
Summary Notes.
Please prepare an organized information outline that summarizes the overall case study analysis (using the outline presented below). The goal is to concisely summarize the key aspects from each section in the outline, while recognizing that the reader may not have the quantitative background that you now possess. These summary notes will correspond with your presentation slides (see below). You may write these summary notes using neatly written bullet points in an outline format, but please use full sentences and correct grammar. Consider these summary outline notes to be supplements to the oral presentation.
Grading will be based on both the information provided in the summary slides as well as the level of professional writing, organization, and grammar.

·
Oral Presentation.
Please prepare a PowerPoint presentation and record a video presentation of your case study analysis. This presentation should be of high quality, informative, and able to appeal to a general audience. Whereas your summary notes will be written and meant to be read by an audience, the presentation slides should be visual, with high quality graphics and low-to-no word content. Please practice your presentation anddo not use any notes. The presentation will follow the outline of the summary slides (see below) and is limited tono more than 5 minutes. Please upload a copy of the PowerPoint slides in addition to the summary notes and post the link to the video in the comments section of the Canvas assignment folder. The recording should be made using Zoom and include both the presentation slides and a video of you speaking. Please dress in professional attire and have a clean background behind you. Please practice and ensure that there is proper lighting, and the camera angle is appropriate.
Grading will be based on both the professionalism of your presentation, as well as your ability to effectively explain the case concepts.

(I WILL COMPLETE THE VIDEO recording portion of the PRESENTATION BUT I NEED THE POWER POINT TO BE DONE WITH charts, graphics, etc. and a summary of what I’ll be saying to accompany the powerpoint and describe what the graphics are showing.

The general flow of theSummary NotesandOral Presentationshould include the following:

1.
Summary:Summarize the major point(s) of the case study.

2.
Relevant Course Points:Discuss specifically how course topic(s) are relevance to the case study.

3.
Qualitative Decision Factors, Implementation Considerations, and Ethical Issues:Quantitative model results help with decision-making, but there are other factors that we need to consider before making managerial decisions. Please discuss any qualitative decision factors, challenges and potential organizational impacts of implementing the results from the business models, and any potential ethical issues associated with the case study.

4.
Final Insights:Now that the case study has been summarized and linkages made to course concepts, include your own thoughts regarding the case. For example, were the decisions ones that you agree or disagree with? Should the organization make any changes in this area?

The grade for thiscase study analysiswill be based on: your ability to develop a comprehensive case that includes each of the required components (30%); prepare summary notes that are organized, follow the presentation flow, and are written using accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling (20%); clearly explain the case study content in the video presentation (25%); construct high quality presentation slides (20%); and to deliver the presentation within the stated time limit (5%).
