Part I- Homeland DIY
Establishing a safe and healthy workplace isn’t the responsibility of the management entirely rather it is a collective effort in which employees as well as workers have a great role to play. Employees have a huge role to enhance the occupational health and safety since they are the ones who would be at the receiving end if there is any failure in implementation. Therefore, participation of employees is critical in managing the safety and health. Jack can't individually have solutions to all health as well as safety issues. In this case, the employees that are recently been recruited under Jack due to expansion can help in broadening the prospective by offering the insights gauged from their knowledge and experience ("Worker Consultation & Participation - ISO 45001:2018", 2020).
As Jack one of the very important responsibility is to engage my staff such that their actions are aligned towards common goal (Byrne, 2020). Furthermore, the nature of job performed in the Homeland DIY involve physical activity that can perhaps require employees to be extra careful with their actions. Failure to engagement may lead to any mishappening with the employees and compromise on the security as well as safety aspects. Therefore, Jack needs to ensure that employees comprehend the policies, rules and various procedures to the employees and create a performance driven culture that can inspire people to be engaged in the activities and always put their best foot forward.
Putting myself in the role of Jack engaging the employees of the Homeland DIY. As the employee raise issues of safety and security it becomes my prime responsibility to minimise the risk of hazard as well as ensuring proper implementation of safety procedures ("The benefits of worker participation in safety and health - PPE.ORG", 2020)
