Cisco Network Routing Module 02 Project Template

Often in network planning, different alternatives are considered for addressing schemes. In this assignment, we will look at an alternative to the subnetting scheme developed in Module 01.

SomeCompany’s CTO is considering the use of different subnets for each floor in Building 1 as opposed to department subnetting designed last week. The CTO has asked for a physical network diagram demonstrating this new floor based plan. Using the Network information provided below, create a physical network diagram showing how the described network is interconnected.

Floor 10 – 172.18.10.0/24
Floor 9 – 172.18.09.0/24
Floor 8 – 172.18.08.0/24
Floor 7 – 172.18.07.0/24
Floor 6 – 172.18.06.0/24
Floor 5 – 172.18.05.0/24
Floor 4 – 172.18.04.0/24
Floor 3 – 172.18.03.0/24
Floor 2 – 172.18.02.0/24
Floor 1 – 172.18.01.0/24

Using Visio, create a physical network diagram of Building 1 as outlined in the above specifications. Remember that each building has its own router. In this plan, consider each floor to have its own switch. (Please copy the Visio map into the space provided in the next page.)

Then on the last page, describe the method you believe was used to make identification of various subnets easier to identify.

Explanation on why this subnetting scheme makes sense given the specifications of the CTO.
The schema is an tree schema that is the most preferable schema in case of vertical building connections. This schema is been used as the IP allocation is become easy and each switch of every floor is been connected with the building router.
