Problem 1
a. Both the bulbs are in parallel. They are connected this way so that both of them receive the same voltage. If
they are connected in series, then their voltage will be reduced by half and hence they will not work.
b. Voltage of a car battery is 12.8 V.
c. Since both the bulbs are connected in parallel, so voltage drop across the bulbs is same as that of battery i.e. 12.8 V
d. Tank Sensor is in series of the fuel gauge as both of them will have the same current.
e. The second circuit with the two bulbs connected will leave our battery dead as there is no switch connected in the circuit. So, battery current will flow always and drain the battery whereas the first circuit have the ignition switch connected to it.
f. Standard power of a car light bulb is 55 W. Current through the bulb = Power/Voltage = 55/12.8 = 4.3 A
g. Two other items which uses car battery are Car horn and Brake light. These are not required to be connected to the ignition but to be connected to the respective buttons.
