Context: The opportunity to research a particular country’s healthcare system will facilitate understanding of the interdependent relationship between economics, health care and public health. You can begin to get an understanding of the way a country perceives health and well-­­being by examining the areas to which resources are allocated, how efficiently they are managed, and how effective they are in terms of health care outcomes. The chosen country is FIJI.2 part assessment.

As part of this, describe the following: (a) The percentage of Gross Domestic Product spent upon health and how this compares with Australia (or another country); (b) Where the money to fund this system comes from; (c) How expenditures for public health services, including prevention programs, are estimated. (d) What the mix of public and private expenditure and services is; (e) Whether a proportion of funding comes from development assistance for health or any form of innovative financing; (f) The underlying trends (demographic, changes in treatment, or technology) which help to explain expenditure; (g) The extent to which health coverage is universal. (h) Any economic levers that are used, or could be used, to achieve better health outcomes in your chosen country. 2. How your chosen country performs in terms of the key elements or building blocks of the health system (as identified by WHO 2007; 2009) e.g. are there key workforce shortages in a particular profession and how might imbalances be addressed; and is the workforce appropriately trained to develop core competencies?
Explain what cost-­­benefit analysis and cost-­­effectiveness analysis are and how they could be used to assist with resource allocation in relation to analysing the health system (you are not expected to perform the analysis, but you are required to understand these key concepts and say how you might go about the analysis). Additionally, describe a potential health system reform you could implement in your chosen country to improve weaknesses in the system.

Organizing and Funding of Public Health System of Fiji
Medical care should be free in any civilized society. Healthcare should not be the name used for medical care, it create confusion. The public health care system is the art and the science of preventing disease, prolonging life and prolonging health through the organized efforts and informed choices of the society, individual, organization and communities. As explained by Raj, Creaton and Phillips (2019), the system focuses on threats to overall health of the community with a motive to control rather than treating disease through surveillance of cases and promotion of healthy behavior.
Medicare 100% covers all necessary treatment at a standard rate. The public health care system made up of number of components, which includes community-based service, public hospitals and largely owned and affiliated health care organization. The public accesses care within the public health system for free or at a lower cost through Medicare (funded by tax). Free healthcare is one of the best options for any government. Because the society contains different types of peoples such as rich or poor.
However, health caring is needed for everyone equally. Ensuring the availability of health caring is an important responsibility of every government. Otherwise poor people may losses better health caring and it may cause to loss their life. Medical services and treatments are more expensive for most of the people. Hence, by the help of health care people can get better treatments and medical services equally. The patient has no fear of getting into debt and going bankrupt for seeking medical treatment.
The patient does not have any worries about whether their insurance coverage is sufficient for the treatment you need. The health records are with her local doctor but he can consult any doctor if, for example, Patient is away from home and become ill. The family doctor is not tied to any insurance plan. Moreover, most of all, the patient’s employer has no role or responsibility for funding your health care. Patient can get free healthcare facility. Everything is almost cover in public health care system. It is a lifesaving facility.
