Computer and Technology Programs Software Test Engineer Certificate Capstone Course Syllabus Course Summary The STE Capstone project challenges students to demonstrate the skills and concepts acquired from the previous classes required for the STE certificate. Students will draw from concepts covered in the earlier Test Methodology, Programming, and Database classes. This project simulates a real-world software test project against an e-commerce application. Students can apply skills and knowledge from previous classes to demonstrate understanding and build their own STE portfolio. For this project, students will design and execute multiple test passes against a small e-commerce application, then report test findings. Students will have opportunity to build the test environment and write custom testware to support test execution. Prerequisites Successful completion of all required classes. The above prerequisites are considered to be the basic skills and knowledge needed prior to taking this class. Instructors will assume your readiness for the class materials and will NOT use class time to discuss prerequisite materials. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: • Determine an effective test approach for the application under development by using all available resources including specifications and working code (C#). • Demonstrate ability to create a test environment. • Define and execute two test passes by utilizing the skills acquired from the curriculum. • Identify and report issues and bugs found during test execution. • Present final evaluation and project documentation to instructor. Course Requirements Participants must demonstrate ability to apply various skills and concepts in a real-world manner. A Windows PC, as a test system, is required. Students must submit project status reports at defined milestones, attend checkpoint sessions, and complete the various test execution tasks. We value our different backgrounds at Bellevue College, and students, faculty, staff members, and administrators are to treat one another with dignity and respect. Religious Holidays Students who expect to miss classes, examinations, or any other assignments as a consequence of their religious observance should be provided with a reasonable alternative opportunity to complete such academic responsibilities. It is the obligation of students to provide faculty with reasonable notice of the dates of religious holidays on which they will be absent, preferably at the beginning of the term. Students who are absent on days of examinations or class assignments should be offered an opportunity to make up the work without penalty (if they have previously arranged to be absent), unless it can be demonstrated that a makeup opportunity would constitute an unreasonable burden on a member of the faculty. Should disagreement arise over what constitutes an unreasonable burden or any element of this policy, parties involved should consult the department chair, or Dean. College Anti-Discrimination Statement Bellevue College does not discriminate on the basis of race or ethnicity; color; creed; national origin; sex; marital status; sexual orientation; age; religion; genetic information; the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability; gender identity or veteran status in educational programs and activities which it operates.
