Hi Marcus,

Good job discussing the differences between ethnographic and case study research. One important concept of the case study approach istriangulation. Did you come across this concept in any of your research on ethnographic research? Would this be something beneficial in your proposed research study?

Marcus, you have provided a great explanation of the differences between case studies and ethnographic studies. Case studies identify specific solutions whereas; ethnographic studies seek to study and understand societies and communities. Ethnography is basically the study of culture. The use of ethnography assists with making scientific generalizations about human behaviors and the functioning of social and cultural systems. Ethnography is a qualitative method for collecting data often used in the social and behavioral sciences. The data is collected by means of observations and interviews (Creswell & Poth, 2017). The observations and interviews provide the researcher with detailed information that is used by the researcher to draw conclusions. Based on the information obtained, the researcher draws conclusions about the functioning of individuals and societies (Creswell & Poth, 2017). Ethnographic research entails observing life as it transpires as opposed to manipulating variables in a lab environment.

Because interviews and observations are the typical approaches to data collection in ethnographic studies, the participants vary. Everyone the researcher interacts with is not a participant in the study. Being a participant in the study is contingent upon the type of information collected and how the data is recorded (Ploder & Hamann, 2021). For example, if the person the researcher interacts with, or interviews provide the researcher with specific information and the researcher records the data that is specific to the individual and their experiences then the individual becomes a participant in the study. The individual can be anonymous but still be an individual in the study. Ethnography is the study of people in their natural environments originally conducted by anthropologists. Ethnography is the documentation of the differences and similarities between cultural groups by means of empirical fieldwork (Ploder & Hamann, 2021). Ethnographic research entails observing and interviewing individual cultures and then recording, transcribing, and documenting the data obtained from the interviews or observations based on what was observed of the individuals within their natural settings.

You described how you would use an ethnographic study on your topic. Do you see yourself using a case study? why or why not?

Dear Denisia,
Good Day to You!
Thank you for the feedback and it means a
lot to me. This feedback encourages me give my 100% and perform much better. Trust is a crucial aspect while conducting research irrespective of any design methodology implemented. This is because trust motivates the participants to share honest feedback and opinion. Especially, while working with the Delphi method, establishing strong trust is essential to gauge authentic opinion from the experts involved in the process. This trust can develop strong foundation for the research since information gauged are valid and recommendations generated are valuable. Furthermore, trust ensures that all the stakeholders involved can share sensitive information and details. Trust can be developed by communicating with the participants effectively. Especially, ensuring that everything which is discussed during Delphi method will not be used elsewhere or mocked etc. Lastly, being transparent in all the actions and...
