The Communist Manifesto
The Communist Manifesto is a brief publication that was declared as the arguments and the platform of the Communist Party. It was written in 1847 by political theorists Karl Marx and Fredric Engels and was commissioned by the Communist League, a political party. The Communist Manifesto was published in 1848 and consists of a preamble and four chapters.
The first chapter “Bourgeois and Proletarians” reflects “the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles”. It is the position that the competition and private ownership of land are forever exploiting and oppressing the proletariat which is otherwise known as the working class. Marx states that the system always results in a class conflict which furthers leads to revolution and these need to be replaced by Communism- a society without class distinction.
The manifesto points that throughout history the struggle between the oppressor and the oppressed is the constant aspect that is revived by a revolutionary reconstruction of the society. However, the manifesto effectively points out that the modern Bourgeoisie is the product of several revolutions and the development of this class began in the earliest towns and gained acceleration with the age of exploration. However, the increasing markets and the increasing demand of all the classes required manufacturing and the industrial revolution established the modern industry. The industrial middle class who initiated the aspect of manufacturing at the emergence of the industrial revolution became industrial millionaires or the modern Bourgeoisie.
In this section, the main idea was contemplated that throughout history class struggle is an important aspect that is determined by the fundamental economic structure. It was obvious that as Bourgeoisie developed proletariat also developed.
