Differentiating Between Types Of Case Study Research
One of the most powerful approach for research design is by implementing case studies. Essentially, this method of designing
the research offers in-depth, multi-faceted exploration of critical issues in their real-life settings (The Case Study as a Research Method., 1997). Based on the requirement of research different types of case studies can be utilized. I have differentiated different types of case studies that can be used based on the domain/discipline.
Explanatory
This form of case study concentrates on the explanation of certain phenomenon or questions. For instance, the case study explaining why summation of one plus one would be two. These results aren’t up to any interpretation. Usually, explanatory type of case study will not be applicable with humans since there will always be variables associated. Majority of time there are variations that can’t be explained in explanatory method. It is usually a precursor to a formal or a large-scale project that is instantiated for further investigations crucial for the research. Usually this type of case study involve description about the subject by the virtue of observations, surveys, any pre-existing information gathered relative to pre-existing theory. Fundamentally based on accounting causal investigations. Researchers are more inclined in comprehending different factors that might actually performed in certain point of time (Thomas, G., 2011).
Multiple-Case Studies
Collective research by involving multiple case studies to formulate a new one. Utilization of past research and cases offers insights about the precedents available, additional information without investing anytime to add capital and resources. For instance, utilizing the PTSD concerns is a...
