Discrete Mathematics ICT101 Assessment 3 (25%)

Instructions

Assessment
Type

: Group Assignment

Purpose of
the assessment

: To develop a plan for a real-world example of an
application in information technology from the
one of the topics given below. This assessment contributes to the
various learning outcomes of your Bachelor of IT degree.

Assessment Task

:
In the initial part of assignment, the group
of students’ will be tested on their skills on writing literature review of a
topic you have learnt in the Discrete Mathematics (ICT101) course in the week 1
to 6. Students need to read at least 3 articles or books on this topic
especially with application to Information Technology and give detail review of
those. Student will also identify one application of information Technology
related to the topic in which he/she is interested and write a complete account
of that interest.

Student group will be exploring
and analysis the application of information technology related to the topic
which are identified by each group member, and they must recognise an
application that can be programmed into computer. Each group must sketch a
plane to draw a flow-chart and algorithm. Use some inputs to test the algorithm
(Give different trace table for each input) and identify any problem in the
algorithm. Suggest a plane to rectify or explain why it can’t be rectified.
Each group must write one report on its findings.

Student can choose group member
by his/her own but should be within his/her tutorial group.

Students can choose one from
the following Topic. However, after deciding on the topic to work on, consult
with your tutor.

The topic
student group can choose from are

:

Number Systems in computer programming

Logic in computer programming

Quantifying a Predicate in computer programming

Function in computer programming

BCD addition

one’s complement

NOTE: To write this assessment please choose:

Number Systems in computer programming

The written
report must have the following sections:

1.
Introduction

2.
Proper
reference of at least three articles or books

3.
Write
detail review of those articles or books related to the topic student chooses

4.

Identify one application in Information Technology in
which student is interested. Write a
complete account of that interest

5.
Description
of why students choose this application

6.
Give
a complete plane to implement the application into a computer program with use
of flow-chart

7.
Write
an appropriate algorithm

8.
Use
at least two inputs to test the algorithm. Group need to give a trace table for
each input.

9.
Conclusion

10.

Introduction

Any cost that is saved or moved into the PC memo
ry does have a depicted number system. This is because the Number System is the method that numbers are represented within the layout of a computer device. It is also a collection of characteristics that are used to demonstrate certain amounts. The parallel number framework, the decimal number framework, the octal number framework, and the hexadecimal number frameworks are examples of mainstream number systems. Let us talk about the Binary Number System.
Binary Number System
In the binary number system, the digits zero and just one are used. The number two serves as the foundation of the binary system. In a parallel assortment architecture, each number or bit could be either 0 or 1, depending on the context. When displaying unusual bits, such as 10011, a combination of binary integers may be used. For example: In binary reach, the positioning cost of each digit has numerous times its area surveys, or the front evaluation of the digit of its proper skirt. The range of integers from 0 to 10 includes equivalents such as 0, 1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111, 1000, 1001, and so on.
Application

The two-digit number system that is used in front line encoding is essential to the process of coding as well as the development of computer programmes. Because it transforms ideas in such a way that readers are able to read information without encountering any difficulties, we have decided to adopt digital/electronic encoding rather than other applications of the double-number framework. Due to the fact that the records cannot be read before we have completed the computations necessary for encoding, the information will be kept secret.
On the other hand, we are moving away from using other apps since they are pricey, have a lower level of security, and require careful setup in comparison to computerized encoding. The process of collecting information and caring for it using thoughtful bits of data is known as electronic or sophisticated encoding. These precisely constructed components hold the ones and zeros that make up the corresponding System. The method of obtaining measurements and providing it with pertinent bits of data is known as...
